These are more or less the standard in all Danish offices. They don't usually behave as the one in the article though.

I have one of these at work, except that it functions fine.

EDIT: It's recommended because studies show sitting for long periods of time is linked to increased risk of heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer and early death, being possibly even more dangerous than smoking. I would sit all day, if it wasn't for this.

My sit-stand desk is an Ikea desk + some boxes :P

Are you competing with a dead desk in a dead thread ? Generally it means you have a gripe with your stuff, and you need some form of closure.
If that is so, I know how you feel : I decided to buy a couple of ikea chairs the other day, and ultimately I feel like I spent way too much for it. I could and should have waited for a better opportunity. I like them but still.

It is supposed to be better for your health but I imagine using a standing desk for more than a few hours would be very unpleasant to say the least.
