Im having issues with game overlays being blocked by BitDefender and issues in a few games from thir recent update. I love there protection and you really cant beat it but they are not playing nice with core utilities i use everyday.

What do you guys like as a free or cheap AV solution that is as good as BitDefender in blocking threats. I want one with out nag screens and one that doesn't use "cloud" so my files aren't sent all over the net being scanned (eg: panda) other then that im open to suggestions.

Sofar I'm considering Sophos Home but they have bad scores... only nag free option that doesn't sell your data I could find.

If you are a fairly experienced computer user, I recommend the COMODO Firewall 10 (+ their sandbox) and no antivirus at all. Im my case, since a get very few alerts from my previrous AVs, including COMODO AV itself, and they are all from files that I know tha will be detected, I've found that a AV protection is not worth the additional overhead of every file IO on my disk.

My setup is actually explained in the video named "Comodo Firewall 10 Setup" by cruelsister1 on YT.

COMODO FW + SB + Cloud AV on demand means a faster PC and little downsides (one is the you will ned to do a initial configuration).

But, if you really want a AV, try the COMODO Internet Security, it's free and comes with the FW and SB.

So far I am only using Windows Defender on my Windows 10 machine and it seems to stay out of my way most of the time...

I second Windows Defender here - can be easily configured to disable cloud stuff and such during the initial setup and takes like 0 ressources. Also 0 annoying popups regarding do a scan, "update now", "buy our super special edition now with 429492492 more functions. Didn't have any issues without at all regarding any false positives or any programms refusing to run/start bc of it running in the background (had some issues b4 with Avast and Kaspersky). And ya guess together with Brain 2.0 and like a monthly on demand scan with malwarebytes the general level of protection is good enough.
Malwarebytes.

Comodo hosed my system on several occasions in the past, I now rate it to be on the same level as virusses.

After looking into a lot of options I've settled for this, with the new features coming out and tightly controlled permission locking on critical folders I'm 100% satisfied on this option. Thanks for the input!
Can't really recommend Defender after getting "bad" scores in the independent tests:
https://www.av-test.org/en/news/news-single-view/test-18-security-suites-under-windows-10/
http://chart.av-comparatives.org/awards_by_vendor.php?venID=11 (standard being the next worst one)

...even in performance.

If anyone is curious BitDefender works alongside Shadowplay and Afterburner along with OpenBroadcaster without issue again.
