Quite a long talk, but worth watching imo.
The history of human food production as the intro with the known degradation of the planet`s ecosphere as a result of agroculture. The last part about what permaculture design ideas integrated into city landscapes can look like.
Enjoy! No seriously it is your patriotic duty to enjoy this video ;)

Cool, I want to contribute. What makes me hope:

For those who do not want to read: This company found a way to make hemoglobin from normal plants (not genetically engineered ones). I saw a few tv-documentaries about their burgers and according to the testers the meat tastes even better than real meat.

So, maybe in the future we do not need to kill millions of animals for their meat.

I don't want to ruin the whole vibe here (since I'm generally a pessimist), however, even if that were to happen, though I'm skeptical about the whole thing, we'll always find new reasons to kill millions of animals just to keep us alive.

My only hope is that genetic research will get us to a point where we can program things at cellular level in order to generate proteins for sustenance, replacement organs etc. without tormenting our living mammalian cousins.

The ingredient that makes the food taste like meat is soy leghemoglobin which is made from genetically engineered yeast. Furthermore the company used legal loopholes to bypass the FDA. This bothers me to a fairly large extent so I will be avoiding Impossible Foods until they get FDA approval.

Let´s wait and see if the rich get sick. It will take some time until the food becomes available to the poor man. Until then we will know wether it is safe to eat or not :)
