And from the Naval Action and Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail devs...

Sea Legends

Very little concrete information on this game, but IMHO what there is looks great.

From game URL...

"18th Century Naval and Pirate RPG.

Piracy and Pirate Hunting, Smuggling and Privateering, Seamanship and Combat are one of the most fascinating topics of the Age of Sail - one in which a very large number of people are interested. Sea Legends will become a practical guide and representation of i of most operations in which a Captain of the Age of Sail was involved.

Cumbersome and impractical controls and systems, which are so often found in modern games on sailing and Age of Sail combat have been avoided. Instead, features are presented through the lenses of simplicity and common sense, building on experience in making historical games and practical experience in sailing boats from large to small.

Sea Legends will start as a single player experience built around low risk smuggling, hauling and privateering in the Carribean. Then we will add social common areas like taverns with historical games, drinking, singing and chatting with other Captains. After this is done Naval careers and Pirate life will be implemented. These careers will have integrated multiplayer components.

If you like what you see, I hope you will consider joining us on this naval adventure. We will set sail in 2022 for Spain, Britain, France or Pirates. People of all ages and skill level are more than welcome to join.

Claw wouldn't hurt, either...
Pirate games are good games and this theme deserves more attention than it gets nowadays. Can't say I played any modern-ish pirate game for a good while now (or even naval one from that period)... I would be interested in something with quite realistic sailing. I've kept checking the Naval action over the years (but the MMO style turned me off from purchase) and Ultimate admiral I never got either, though I meant to grab that one. I used to play the old Age of sail 2, back in like 2000 or so... and later the pirates of carribean (Sea dogs 2).

These new games looks interesting, Corsair's legacy looks very SeaDogs-like indeed. Although I wonder if that Sea Legends will end up becoming something super-casual, easily accessible and overly-simplified... Maybe that's the key to get it to wider audience though, I wonder.

O Man, thanks for such blast from the past. I remember playing it back then. I liked the game, despite not being a cats person and usually prefered platformers like Pitfall (had the W95 version). Totally forgot about Claw for many a year now.

You're very welcome. A pity it's not available on GOG, or anywhere else for that matter. Must be the usual copyright issues.
Oh, and Shipwreckers! (aka Overboard!), while we're at it.
