Made me wonder if THQ Nordic is actually aiming for the remake's release next year, to coincide with the 25th anniversary.
Must have received quite a bit of feedback to the Nyras prologue as well, with much of it probably leaning towards the "room for improvement" side of things.
I haven't tried the prologue yet. Its offline installers have been sitting comfortably on my computer for some time now.

Is it that bad? I've never played the original Gothic, btw.

Likely wouldn't find too much to criticise then, besides the character movement/controls which both veterans and the non-initiated agree upon needs adressing the most.

If you got about 42 minutes - this english review of the prologue too covers almost everything the german-speaking community has identified and compiled as still remaining issues Alkimia Interactive would need to do another/a couple more (QA) passes on before the actual full game could be released in an acceptable state:
