Comrades! 20 years ago, (on 31 October 1996) EDIT: in late November 1996, Command & Conquer: Red Alert was released! What are your favourite memories from playing this game?

I've also made a small commemorative post on GameReplays to help the nostalgia and memories flash :)

That time it was released on GoG to celebrate the 20 Year Anniversary? ;)

Hey, one can hope, right?

That my first thought. :P
Well, it's freeware, so there's no need :P

Alot of my experience is from the Playstation 1 port I have to admit. My favorite memory has to be using the System Link feature to link two PS1s together and play multiplayer with my best friend of now 20 years. Tesla Tank hype!

Some are a bit of a pain to set up and I know the fan patched C&C1 I have has slight issues with graphics having a bit of a pixely filter (using other settings to eliminate this causes massive slowdown) and fmvs being slow to load. Which is why i'm hoping for a more proper fixed gog release.

Oh? How so? What are your ddraw and CCConfig settings?

There's not much they could do. The source codes for all Westwood titles were lost in 2003/4 while moving locations. The only person who knows (literally!) more about TibDawn than anyone at EA was the one who made the 1.06 patch.

Oh god, I don't even remember what settings I used. Basically, the fmvs will start frozen, but then play after about 10 or more seconds.

Well that sucks on the second part.

Normally, no, but it does if you install it/patch it with this.

The game is freeware, it's not necessary.

I agree
,its not..but would be nicer to have it all at one place. Thanks for link!!
After researching, it turns out I got a bit ahead of myself - the game went gold on 17 November, despite what Wikipedia says. Still, it's always a good time to celebrate a once famous RTS!
Red Alert was a great one! One of my favorite RTS series! Be sure to check out OpenRA as well!

High rating just for this, comrade!

Playing skirmish on the PSX version, in the highest difficulty, and as i watch one of my last V2s ready to hit the target and ultimately signal the end of the battle, the electric goes down. So much for realism... :P

It's about time EA offers the whole collection on GOG.
