*** Giveaway ended on 16/07/2022 - here are the results ***
Today, it's been ten years since I joined GOG. I want to celebrate the occasion with a little giveaway.
I first became aware of GOG on the old "Abandonia" site, that I used to browse back then. I remember seeing banners with Duke Nukem, Earthworm Jim and the like, plus you couldn't download some games directly from the site but you were redirected to the relevant page on GOG instead.
It took me some time to sign up, however; and I made my first purchase only several months after joining, on December the 14th: Thief, Shogo, Unreal, Tomb Raider trilogy and Redneck Rampage. I was excited I could play games that I had started, but abandoned, years before (the first three), or had just heard about, but never tried.
Not long after, there came Syndicate, Commandos, Far Cry, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Deus Ex, the Age of Wonders trilogy... and all the rest.
It's true, many things have changed since then, perhaps not always for the better... but there are other, more suitable places to discuss this.
The games:
Unreal Gold
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic
Syndicate Plus
The Penumbra Collection
Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands
DethKarz
The Adventures of Shuggy
As it might be apparent, I aimed for maximum variety: different genres, different styles, different settings, and so on, so hopefully there will be something for everyone. Also, different generations, although there isn't anything that could really be deemed recent: the games on offer all tend to be on the old (or very old) side, so I realise that veterans won't likely find much of interest to them, and the giveaway will mainly appeal to younger, inexperienced GOGers (I hope...)
Well, if I had loadsa money, I guess I could have put up a more spectacular offering, with newer, flashier titles... but I haven't, so this will have to do. Morevoer, I wanted to gift only games I've personally played and liked, and I'm mainly into the "oldies" anyway. At the very least, I can say that these are, indeed, good!
Rules are simple: you can enter for as many games as you like, but you can win only one.
The winner for each game will be randomly chosen via random.org.
(List the games you want in order of decreasing preference, so I already know which one to gift you in the event you're drawn for two or more).
The deadline is Saturday, July 16th, 19 pm, Italian time. I will draw the winners shortly after, or at least within the end of the day.
