I just got to the first merchant in Geneforge 3 and I can't figure out how to sell items. I'm to overburdened to fight so I really need to get rid of all this junk in my inventory.

If you can sell stuff, there will be a separate option next to the buy option in the main dialogue tree. It will be something like "I want to sell something" and will probably be just below "I want to see your wares". From GF3 on, you can't sell directly from the merchant goods screen.

You must not be able to sell to the first merchant then. I guess I'll stash most of my stuff and come back for it. Thanks.

In South End (which is just north of Greenwood Academy), there is a merchant named Hinman that you can sell to. I was wrong about the placement. The sell option with Hinman is actually above the sell option.
