Has anyone else noticed about a 5 to 10 second delay when moving between areas or saving/loading games?

I am running the game on XP with a quad core processor. Would limiting the game to one core solve this issue?

*Update* Solved via a response in the Spiderweb forums to the same query I made there, this is WAD and expected behavior. The delays are the normal read/write process of the game engine.

I don't experience delays of any sort (Vista, double core) after I made some change with the MS Compatibility Toolkit. I'd also recommend using BES 1.5.2 to limit CPU usage.

Yes. I found another post on the Spiderweb forums regarding the MS Compatibility Tool Kit and used the "forceDirectDraw" switch. Once that was done, the game is running as smooth as silk and no more save or loading delays. So much for WAD!
I think this is a Windows XP problem, only people I see reporting it are running XP.

I have the exact same problem. Game freezes for up to 10 seconds every time I try to save, load, or every time I move to a new map. Trying this Compatability Tool KIt...
I`m on Windows XP also and I had this issue as well as jerky mouse cursor. Hovewer, that MS Compatibility Toolkit completely fixed all problems and game is running awesome now. Thank You mg1979, I used Your list of tweaks from link You posted and it`s working like a charm. You are simply a genius! +1 to all Your posts in both threads.
