If I play it in Linux Mint (64bit), the game runs fine but gets a framerate drop to about 0.4fps as soon as I use the resizing gateways to make myself big - making it completely unplayable regardless of settings.
If I play it in Windows XP (32bit), I don't get this problem but the game has no sound effects instead (just music).

The Smudged Cat forums seem to be offline, otherwise I'd have looked there.

I don't recall the sound bug when I played, I don't know if perhaps changing sound hardware acceleration settings could help?
