CAR WASH Update #5
Update 5# Features (Do., 27. Januar 2022 - 19:04 CET)

Car Wash Added
Unlocked after Quest Chain at Lvl. 4 Gas Station ($1000 for Restoration).
If you are beyond the starting point of the quest, it will begin after you finish the current active quest, or immediately if you finished the main campaign.

Five levels of upgrades, leading up to Automated Car Wash that requires minimum maintenance. As an extra feature we've also added the ability to open/close Car Wash separately from the station itself by popular request from the community (We might expand this to other parts of the station in the future).
- Extra regular achievements connected to the Car Wash (Upgrades and Washing the Cars)
- 2 New Hidden Achievements

- New location added: The Sewers
Connected with the car wash, it houses the Water Pumps that keep the water flowing and few small secrets to discover.

- Various minor bugfixes
- Minor language fixes and updates

- Fixed a bug where if you ordered more than 1000 units of Products/Car Parts in a single order that only 1000 would arrive.
- Fixed a visual bug in the Wheel Ordering UI showing the wrong sale price.


Update #4 is here! (Mi., 15. Dezember 2021 - 18:02 CET)

Update #4 is a combination of things we have planned for the update #4 itself as well as the previously planned update #5. Due to the delay in update #4, these updates have been combined into one.
The focus of update #4 remains what is was: performance optimizations, saves games and loading times, random crashes and fixes for achievements.

One of the reasons the update #4 took longer than we anticipated was a major rework and clean-up of large potions of the game not only to improve overall performance, but also to allow us to create and introduce more new content into the game more easily. While that might sound like much, it has been of major importance to us considering the large amount of future content we plan for the game.

- Loading times for game start and loading saved games have been vastly improved. The game now loads less data on various stages of the process and handles it differently.

- All vehicles have been optimized and require less resources now, meaning they now eat up less performance than they did before. This becomes very noticeable in later stages of the game when there is a lot more traffic on your gas station. These optimizations affect both the CPU and GPU performance.

- Lighting and Shadows had an optimization pass resulting in improved performance especially inside the gas station building.

- First thorough pass of GPU usage, Render optimizations as well as Scalability settings. On lower settings you should now see more difference in quality and bigger savings in GPU usage, VRAM usage as well as regular RAM. Visual quality of textures, vehicles, characters, and shadows of course will be more affected at lower settings. Specifically draw distance makes a large impact on the visuals of skeletal meshes (cars, customers) based on a distance, so tweak accordingly to find what is best for visual / performance gains for your specific hardware.

- The overall memory footprint of the game has seen some nice improvements while we are it at.

- AI Pathing has seen some optimization to make especially vehicle AI be a bit smarter now when attempting to drive. This should lead to less traffic pileups and better navigation to their destination and especially exit points. So more situations related to traffic should be solvable on their own, or with minor help of the broom rather than needing to call the UFO.

- AI priority queue has been changed which should allow for cars to come to Fuel / Garage more consistently.

- While working on loading times we also had a close look into issues with saved games reported by some players and made various improvements to how the game handles the save process and improved it.

- Various random crashes have been caught and fixed. Especially the random crashes resulting from Employees being stuck in loops related to their cleaning and garage repair tasks should now be a thing of the past.

- We caught various instances responsible for random crashes in later stages of the game and fixed them. We would like to thank all those players who sent us their save game folders along with detailed reports what they were doing and when. It would have not been possible to catch these things without their help.

- As part of the crash fix, employees when they manage to clean the whole gas station during the cleaning task, should no longer go home and rest. Instead they will wait at last the position of cleaning for more mess to happen. They should only stop cleaning / return to their camper once their energy runs out.

Other Fixes
- Applied a fix to Trash Drop rates, as it turned out customers were really nice and never dropped trash on the floor any more at some point due to a rounding error in our drop chance calculation when we last adjusted it to be lower.

- Fixed an issue where at Popularity Level 10, the amount of cars arriving was wrongly set to Level 1 Popularity.

- Fixed an issue where Rudy was not saving properly. The old saves can't be retroactively fixed by this, but any new saves or even on old saves games should apply the fix. For example if you picked up sand and saved, Rudy would remember that it had Sand, but would on load have lowered the front 'blade', and no sand could be picked up because it was considered full, so you'd need to unload it first before being able to use it. This will still be the case if you load an old save with this situation, however if you drop off the sand, pick up another batch, and save again, that misbehaviour should be fixed in all future saves from that point on.

Update #4 is here! (Mi., 15. Dezember 2021 - 18:02 CET)

As you are likely aware, we have been struggling with fixing achievements for a few updates now.
While we managed to fix them in the game itself, tons of players still reported issues with achievements. We have spent a lot of time analyzing those reports and working directly with players on discord to track down the issues. As it tuned out, while we missed just a few things in the game previously, the vast majority of issues stemmed from handling the achievements, connection issues or achievement frequencies. Some of these things we could fixed, some were simply beyond our sphere on influence.

We have thus decided to revamp the Achievement System and added it to the game itself rather than being purely reliant on Steam. This means that while you're in-game, you will now see a new Achievement Section in the escape / pause menu where you can also track your achievement progress.

The system now works locally, meaning as you unlock achievements these are saved locally first and then sends them to Steam for verification. You can find the file holding your achievement data in your Saved/SaveGames folder under AchievementProfileX.sav, where X is your user ID from Steam.

When loading an older save game it will try to retroactively grant the achievements based on quest progress and stats (the stats are saved in GSS_Stats_X.sav file). So first time you broom, pick up trash, fuel a car, serve a customer, get a tip, buy or steal an indoor decoration, paint a wall, etc. it should read your stats and apply any missing achievements.

In a future patch we will likely expand on the functionality of the Achievement Section with options resetting them locally, resending them to Steam in case of connections errors or unpredicted issues. Achievements should now also pop on screen in-game in addition to the Steam notification, which might be of importance to players who disable the Steam overlay to squeeze more performance out of their games.

As an added side bonus of this whole endeavour, it will also allow us to add more achivements to the game in future updates, related to new content or expanding the existing stat based achievements, even beyond the 100 achievement limit from Steam.
Another added bonus for those who just love to do achievements over and over again, if at any point you feel like it, you can reset your local achievements to experience the rush of earning them again, by deleting the AchievementProfileX.sav file in your Saved/SaveGames/ folder :P

Achievements - Known Issue
During public testing we have discovered an issue where for few players the GSS_Stats_X.sav file was corrupted and they were unable to earn any stats and thus the achievements related to the stats.
We will attempt to implement a fix for this on our side in the future patch, but as it requires a lot more work and testing, we didn't want to postpone the update even further.
There is however a workaround. If you see that you're not getting achievements in-game for any stat related achievements as outlined above, you are safe to delete the specific GSS_Stats_X.sav file and they should become earnable as we will regenerate the file later.
Just make sure the game isn't running when you delete the file.

Language Versions
While we working on update #4, many community members reached out to us offering to translate the game into their language. We are so grateful for that!
With update #4, the game now supports:

- Croatian
- Hungarian
- Portugese
- Serbian
- Vietnamese

If you notice any issues with these languages, please report it on our Discord in the translation section.

What's Next?
With update #4 now deployed, part of the team will continue on more improvements, some more optimizations and further bug fixing. Among the improvements will be many requests from the community for gameplay QoL features and adjustments.
Another part of the team switched back to prepare the Car Wash content update for release, now that the vehicle optimizations planned for update #5 have been included into this update which in turn were required for the Car Wash.


Following update #4, we made some hot fixes for the known issues:

- Fixed an issue where cars would be stuck doing nothing after loading a saved game.
- Fixed an issue where cars would still arrive at the gas station when it's closed.
- Fixed Dennis getting stuck on toilet doors or the wall next to the toilet.
- Fixed Rudy being full after loading a saved game and visuals not matching. Also being able to see 'press F to interact' message while having something in hand while not being able to enter Rudy.
- Fixed Worker's Hat (Blue Hardhat) that could not be bought by customers.
- Reduced trash drop-rate to smaller rates (from 2% to 0.85% to match the intended values).


Game Update #3 (Sa., 9. Oktober 2021 - 10:43 CEST)

This is the third update in a series of updates we are working in order to fix bugs and improve the game.

Stability & Performance
- Fixed a loading issue in which the game freezes for a couple of seconds before showing a loading screen.
- Various smaller fixes for random crashing issues ahead of Update #4 that will have a much stronger focus on dealing with those.

- A new UI element now shows relevant information regarding employees and their current status.
- If an employee is repairing a car, the Workshop UI will no longer pop-up on the player's HUD.
- A car repaired by an employee will no longer leave the garage with its hood open.

- Players can now sell shelves from inventory (25% of the shelf value) and discard decorations, products and car parts.
- A “Car Parts” tab has been added to the player’s inventory.
- Fixed the car parts delivery issue where large orders sometimes did not arrive. Boxes were visible, but when transferred to the storage no items were added to the inventory.
- Fixed an issue where after completing the Lockpick challenge (open 10 trunks), each opened trunk would give 10 positive feedback.
- The spark plug stand will now store more items.
- A time lock has been added that prevents accidentally stopping car repairs.
- Reduced footprints and trash spawning a bit again.
- Reduced the frequency of cars honking.

- A Streamer Mode has been added that excludes Denis’ lewd paintings, making the game more underaged audiance friendly.
- Fixed the bug where customers were “flying” around the gas station in a sitting position.
- Fixed an orientation issue with the sunglasses stand. The glasses will now face in the correct direction.
- Fixed an issue with the biker putting art of the walls that was intended for Denis. Now the biker has his own artistic touch.

- Various minor linguistic corrections for all languages.

Game Update #2 (Sa., 25. September 2021 - 10:03 CEST)

This is the second update in a series of updates we are working in ordern to improve the game.
The next update is already being work on, but we would rather do smaller, more frequent updates than have you wait for weeks on a large one.

Stability & Performance
- Fixed crashes related to DetachFromActor in Cash Register and Fueling mini-games.
- Ultra Dynamic Sky should no longer update as often which increases performance.
- FPS Lock is now set to 60 FPS by default. The setting will reset any current settings and activate on first run of the game after the update.
- Early game dust particles were removed inside the station at Station Level 4+ as part of the upgrade (minor optimization).
- NPC's were optimized a bit and should now take less resources, resulting in a performance increase.
- Various performance improvements for level 4 and level 5 gas stations.

- Employees can now jog to get around faster if they have to cover a longer distance.
- Employees should not get stuck in warehouse anymore. They will still go there for now, but they should be able to open doors and not get stuck. In the future will will prevent them from going to warehouse completely.

- All walls and roofs should again be paintable.
- You should now be able to quit the Cash Register mini-game at any time with [F].
- Sandstorms should now correctly spawn sand piles again.
- If you hold a product in hand and put it on a shelf, it should no longer open the product placement menu.
- Workshop mini-games should now show a 'key legend' displayed on the side. These might not be localized yet.
- Items should now overlap less during the Cash Register mini-game. We also changed the scale of some items (newspapers, chips bags, etc.). Both these measures should result in making them less likely to go to the moon randomly.
- Dennis should again make more sounds to make him more easily noticeable.
- Calling the UFO using the Big Red Button when fuel truck arrives should no longer make the fuel from the fuel truck disappear. There will still be two trucks, of which one is empty, but that is a visual glitch to be fixed in an upcoming patch.
- You should now be able to toggle Sandstorms, Dennis Stealing from Warehouse and Party Bus from the Gameplay Options menu to turn them off if you don't like any of them.

- 87 Resolution Scale issue has been resolved and resolution scale should now save properly.
- You should no longer see NPC overhead widgets when driving the digger or RC car.
- The animations for no products founds on shelf has been tweaked.

Save Game
- Quicksave (F5) and Quickload (F9) have been added. These keys can't be currently remapped, but that will come in the next update.
- Autosaves now scale up to 5. The newest auto-save will now correctly overwrite the oldest auto-save if 5 auto-saves are already present.
- There should no longer be sparks on the cables after loading a saved game.

- We made a lot of fixes to achievements. We also tried as often as possible to have achievements be triggered retroactively. We continue to work on achievements not triggering, but we figured we add at least some fixes to update rather than to wait for all of them. Please give it another try.

- Translations fixes and added some of the missing translations in various languges.
- Employee UI in non-english languages should look nicer now.

- Added Reset Character button to the in-game menu. When your character gets stuck somewhere, use it to free yourself.
- Steam Cloud Saving is now available.
- Minor fixes to various UI elements.

More to come in Update #3, especially reworks to dirtiness
and improvements to employees.
Game Hot Fix

We spent the weekend working really hard to provide further fixes for the random crashes and also provide a proper fix for the issue of auto-saves not functioning correctly in later stages of the game.

A big thank you!
to all those players who support us by sending in their save games and provide additional information and even test some development builds. This helps us a lot in speeding up the process of identifying the issues and what is causing them.

- We discovered that Texture Streaming was responsible for a significant amount of random crashes in various circumstances. Those crashes have been fixed and it was not necessary to disable Texture Streaming like last time.
- Various minor stability fixes that do add up to a more stable game and some extra checks in a few places that were potentially crashing the game.

Save Games
- Autosave should trigger every 4 minutes regardless of quest progression unless quest has it specifically prevented (First Dennis Quest as an example).
- The Main Menu should properly detect saves and no longer wrongly grey out the Continue button.
- Fixed an issue with Challenges where under certain circumstances you could skip the 'Upgrade Station to X' quest when loading a game.

- You should no longer be able to skip Painting Quest by getting rid of Dennis too quickly.
- You should no longer be able to clear the hay-bales too quickly before the quest, and get stuck on the quest.

- Gas Station opening/closing lever should no longer be stuck randomly and not interactable after loading the game.
- Amount of litter and trash has been both further reduced. The effectiveness of employee cleaning ability remains unchanged from Update #1 for the time being. This is a stop gap measure until Update #2.
- Added "Headbob" option (not localized yet) to the options menu. Its purpose is to disable camera motion on movement. This option by default is enabled.
- Mini-golf should no longer give you infinite money.
- Minor UI fixes
- Some translation fixes, especially for Thai.

We will now continue working on Update #2 that we plan to release later this week.
Game Update #1 (Fr., 17. September 2021 - 15:56 CEST)

This is the first update in a series of updates we are currently working on to improve the game, get rid of the problems the community reports and also add more languages to the game.

It is important to us that you believe in what we do the same way we do ourselves. We know there are issues with the game right now and we are committed to provide fixes and improvements before we proceed to adding more content to the game. The way we see it, the vast majority of the players like our game a lot. It's just mostly technical issues we need to tackle and these usually "only" take time and commitment - things we feel we certainly have.

- Fixed a crash related to customers generating waypoints. We believe this was the cause of a lot of the random crashes players experienced.

- Fixed an issue where in some cases there would be no employees avaliable to hire even though the quest required you to do so.
- Increased the efficiency of employees who are cleaning. They should now be about 50% faster at cleaning trash.

- Reduced the amount of footsteps and trash items the customers leave behind by roughly 33%.

- Disable Controller option added to the Options menu. This is intended as a temporary fix for the problem where we are detecting some non-controller things (keypads, wheels, bluetooth devices, as controllers).

- Texture Streaming Pool increased on lower settings, which should lead to textures loading faster on lower settings and not staying blurry.

- Thai language has been added to the game.
- Fixed an issue where people who played the prologue would sometimes get the wrong language set as their primary language when starting the game. This change will reset language to English for everyone on the first run after the patch.

- Car Workshop doors should now be paintable and lose durability less quickly.
- You should no longer be able to close Warehouse doors while a truck is entering or leaving the warehouse.
- Added confirmation to deleting Saves & Overwriting existing saves.
- Removed the piece of terrain that was sticking through the ground in the main station.
- Fixed trash being stuck and not be interact-able after loading the game. Also fixes trash on bought decorations being untouchable.
- Removed Giacomo the Snake until we can add the Ophidiophobia mode.
- Autosave should no longer give you extra money on quests where you get money from the Uncle.
- You can now bring up the tool window after throwing items immediately.
- Removed erronerous default binding on Left Arrow Key & Right Arrow Key which turned the character Left/Right

Known Issue
As you're most likely aware, there is an issue where delivery trucks, vehicles/traffic in general and sometimes even customers can get stuck. There is a simple solution to resolve these issues: the Big Red Button
. Located at the Dust Bowl sign it resets these things and restores order at the gas station. Here a short video where to find it:
