I was backtracking from a refuge when decided against destroying the certain thing, and got stuck on a path with no way to move ahead or get back.

Seriously, at this rate you wish that autosaves are done a little bit more often than at area transition...

In case this happens to anyone else, the way I solved it was to save the game, quit to the desktop, and load that same save. When I got back into the game, I could move freely again.
