I'm stuck on day 5 because I didn't gather any scales exept the last one from Dr Johns musem, so now I can't talk Mosley into reopening the case. Is there anyway for me to continue the story or do I have to restart from the begining?

I believe you can go back to the swamp and still collect the scale. You have to look carefully to find the scale, though. Do a thorough search. You don't need any other snake scales than that.
