EDIT: SOLUTION BELOW

Any help with this problem?

When I try to launch the game, a full screen black screen comes up with the rotating blue circular Windows loading icon, but hangs there and never continues. I am using a laptop.

I have tried:
1. restarting my computer
2. verifying the install
3. uninstalling and reinstalling
4. launching the game directly from the install folder in Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode
5. using the Settings.exe and testing the different resolutions

I also have two monitors, and tried launching the game on one or the other monitor by disconnecting and disabling either monitor. I also have a Japanese layout keyboard, and tried to launch the game in both Japanese and English keyboard layouts. To exit the black screen, I am able to end the process called "Launcher.exe (32 bit)" from my second monitor.

I also tried Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers, which does work without problems.

EDIT:
Found a workaround from a recent Steam community post! Links on this forum aren't working, so here's the text of the solution:

<I had this same issue and after some frustration I figured out how to get mine to work. Just navigate to the game's folder and find "Launcher.exe." Create a shortcut of Launcher anywhere, I put mine on the desktop. Right-click the shortcut and go into properties and on the shortcut tab there should be a line that says "Run" with 3 options that say "Normal window, Minimized and Maximized." I put it on Minimized and when I start the game it does the black screen but the game auto minimizes, so I click the game's icon again and it comes up working.>

After doing this there is still a black screen, but with a mouse pointer instead of a loading icon. The taskbar isn't visible on my primary screen for me, but if I click the game's icon on the taskbar on my second screen, or where it WOULD be on the taskbar on my primary screen, then the game maximizes again and works!
