1. I want to know if this can be windowed.

2. More importantly i want to know if after installation can someone test to see if its portable.

For instance I installed a game of monopoly onto my PC I copied the installed folder to my USB drive and took it with me, the game lets me boot it on other PCs with no issue.

Not all games allow this though.

This would likely be a game I'm more to play when I'm not at home on my home machine and I can't just randomly install things on others PCs.

I'll do my best to answer your questions.

1. Yes, IIRC, the game comes as windowed by default. Under the Options from the main page, you have the option to stretch it to full screen. Note: be sure to download the update/patch GOG has on your FTL game download page...it makes sure you have the latest version.

2. I don't know about copying and pasting the installed folder to another computer, haven't tried that, but I have taken a copy via jump drive, and installed it on my girlfriend's computer, then just copy the FTL current "save" folder and bring that along to copy and paste to continue the current game I am playing. That folder is located (on my XP machine) under My Documents/My Games/Faster Than Light. It contains a "prof.sav" file, which harbors all your options, current record of your game achievements, current ships you have unlocked, ect. The other file is a "continue.sav" file which contains the current game that you are playing, provided you have "Quit and Saved" during the game you have going.

As I said, I can't say if just bringing along the installed game folder will work, but as the whole game file is 149mb, it shouldn't be a big deal to bring that along with you, install, play, and uninstall if that's what you're looking to do (and re-save those files when done first). Hope this info helps.
If you write up a .bat in your portable directory which goes like this:

SET USERPROFILE=%CD%
FTLGame.exe

If you use that to launch It'll carry saves across computers.
