I should've posted this like a month ago.

So, after FTL upgraded to Advanced Edition the first time, it created a file named "FTL Advanced Edition" But then there's another update for FTL Advanced Edition, instead of overwriting the existing "FTL Advanced Edition" it created a file with an EXACT SAME NAME. I tried to delete & reinstall it a couple of times & even choose it to overwrite the existing file, but it keep creating a new file with an exact same name. So, does anybody have the same problem? I don't know how to fix this at all.

Are you talking about a file or a directory? Because your topic says one thing and your post says another.

Also, in my case it simply overwrote my existing FTL directory. At least I don't have another one called "FTL Advanced Edition" and I'm pretty sure I didn't rename anything.

Additionally, I'm pretty sure that it's not possible to have exactly the same name (whether a file or a directory, no matter what the operating system). So one version might have superfluous spaces or something in it.

Finally, if you're using Windows it's possible you've got file extensions set to hidden, in which case I'd check the extension (if we're talking about a file here) - they could have different extensions. I suspect one may actually be a link and not a file (which could also occur on other OS's).

What I mean is, that it is supposed to rewrite everything inside a file named "FTL Advanced Edition" which was created by the first Advanced Edition update. But what happened was, the new update also created a file named "FTL Advanced Edition", exact same name.

This makes me have 2 identical directories of "Gog Games/FTL - Advanced Edition" First is the 1 made by the first update to Advanced Edition, the other 1 made by the first update for the Advanced Edition.

I am also confused as well, because they both look identical & I know this isn't supposed to happen, they both have "Gog Games/FTL - Advanced Edition" . I open the Gog Game file, I also see 2 "FTL - Advanced Edition" files in there. I open them & they both seems to have all the same files, except for that the .exe will launch 2 different versions of FTL (1 will launch 1.5.4, the other will launch 1.5.10)

It's been a month, yes I have plenty of time to "Look closer" I wouldn't have made this thread if there's anything different.

Did you follow the "look closer" link?

There is no possible way that the filenames are exactly the same - no operating system would allow that. I'd be surprised if that link doesn't explain it.
