Hi,
when launching FS2 from GOG I have Fatal Error. DX and GPU drivers for 4070 are latest. Also Win 10 is fully updated. I have no problem with other games, also from 11bit. What is going on?

Waflu: Hi,
when launching FS2 from GOG I have Fatal Error. DX and GPU drivers for 4070 are latest.
This happens because of an incompatibility of the Galaxy overlay with NVIDIA Streamline in Unreal Engine games.
A workaround would be to disable the overlay for this game or to delete/rename the Streamline folder located in [Install folder]\Engine\Plugins\Elb. But then you'll lose the ability to use NVIDIA's frame generation.

I've reported this to GOG a while ago.
Since we have more and more games where this is happening, they really should start fixing this issue, which seems to only affect NVIDIA series 40 cards.
How can I disable overlay for this game?
I changed Elb name but still got error, also tried to change Streamline name inside Elb without changing Elb.

How did you reported this?

I added "-d3d12" as an argument and it worked (as recommended here). Alternatively, I was running it directly from the exe in the folder/
Sorry for the late answer, but you didn't ping me and therefore I had no notification about your post. xD

Look at the attached screenshots how to disable the overlay for Frostpunk 2.

Waflu: I changed Elb name but still got error, also tried to change Streamline name inside Elb without changing Elb.
Better delete the Streamline folder or move it to the desktop and back it up somewhere. It also crashes for me the first time I try to launch but the second time it works without problems. But if you don't need the overlay, I would suggest to deactivate it. Then there's no need to delete the Streamline folder.

Waflu: How did you reported this?
I've reported this on Discord back in April. See screenshot 3.

There's no need for that argument since the game launches in DX12 by default. The reason why this is working, is because you had to set up a custom executable with that argument and that will always deactivate the overlay, which is the culprit here. So it would be enough to just disable the overlay in the configuration.

Yeah, disabling the overlay solves it.

For the last year I have barely played a single game where the GOG overlay was working. They should look into this issue finally, as it gets annoying.

Thank you, the overlay turn off solved issue. Renaming/deleting "streamline" dir wasn't working for me.

I've reported this to GOG a while ago.
Since we have more and more games where this is happening, they really should start fixing this issue, which seems to only affect NVIDIA series 40 cards.
I just want to add that I just had this issue with an RTX 3070. It showed all the same symptoms: Game crashing at startup, custom executable with argument -d3d12 working, starting the game from gforce experience working, turning off the overlay working as well. But as i said, on a 30 series card.

Gforce experience start working and having a closer look at the error is was getting is what clued me in, it made me remember that a friend had an issue with a game a while ago where he had to turn off the overlay (iirc it was BG3 in his case).

omg thank you I spend an hour trying to reinstall drivers and everything, why does GOG cause games to crash? they need to fix this; I was about to refund the game

You still can play the game clicking "Send and restart" but still it is not really intuitive.
