Anyone else experiencing severe crashes (requiring a reboot) in Freespace 2's nebula missions? I don't recall it being nearly this bad when I played the disc version, though it has been awhile. This is on a Pentium 2.4 with a gig of RAM and GeForce FX 5500.

I haven't actually bought FS2 yet as I haven't finished Silent Threat but I had a google for you. Unforunately I didn't find anything.
I'd suggest having a look through the Hard Light forums as they are the Freespace Open people. I had a look but didn't see anything but that doesn't mean that it's not there :)

Did you tried to lower the nebula detail or particles in the options menu?
I know that its not a solution, but you should test that first to see if that was the cause of the crash.
If it is, maybe looking into the rendering options of your video driver (like texture compression and buffering) could help clearing it up.
Oh, always remember to update your video card drivers!

I remember that was a problem a lot of players had back when people actually played it online a lot. I believe fixed it (usually) by doing what McDondo said, lower the settings and see if it crashes still. Best wishes.
