Had the same problem while playing this game. I managed to finish it by using a small trick.
Leave one of hostiles from last wing (Krishna) attacking escape pods alive( tell your wingmen not to attack this target), while at least one of Krishna wing is alive hostiles that will attack the Comm Station won't spawn. Now wait for Hope get to its position near the station and then destroy that last fighter. More enemies will show up, destroy them but be aware not to go too far away from the Comm Station. After few waves the mission should be over.
