Having finished the game back in the old days, I decided to play it on insane difficulty level now that I had rebought it. And wow, it’s really insane. I’m already dead stuck on level 3, and that’s one of the easier ones...
So my question is, has anyone made it through the whole game on insane? Is it even possible?

insane is absolutely ridiculous. The main issue will come in trying to fight cap ships, coming close to them with their flak and beam weapons will vaporize you in seconds.

Woho I actually did it. I completed the whole game on insane. fun.
It was very hard in the beginning, but once I got used to the playstyle, things got easier...

Mate, you have balls of pure *steel* to be able to do the game on insane and not smash the computer to bits!

Haha, that was what I was thinking. Ive done it once and will NEVER do it again lol...

Way back in the day, when Descent 1 & 2 were all the rage I use to play them on Insane all the time both in single and multiplayer. Once Parallax split into Parallax/Volition and Freespace came out, it only seemed right to continue playing on Insane. Mind you, I didn't -start- on Insane, but with time I got to where again, I was playing single and multiplayer on Insane and it was the only way to go. I've always liked a challenge, and that certainly is one. Kind of like how it's almost impossible in FS 1 before you get shields :P
If you ever get a chance to play co-op with friends, you have to do it on Insane. It is hard, but you'll stay up until the wee hours of the morning laughing every time you die (maybe :P).
