Hi guys,

I'm very new around here as Fragile Allegiance is my first GOG game, so sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. I remember playing this game to bits as a kid and got very excited when a friend mentioned this game had been released on GOG. I have a Surface Pro tablet and love playing these types of games, spent plenty of time with Banished and Civ 5 on it.

The problem I am having however is the Surface is only the size of a tablet and it runs at 1080p resolution. Fragile Allegiance however only seems to run at 640x480 and even if I run it in full-screen mode it is still at this resolution with a big black void around it. Obviously on an already small screen this makes playing the game next to impossible. I have loaded the DOSBox configurator and there is an option to change the window resolution however no matter what I change this to it still plays at 640x480.

Does anyone know of a way to stretch it to take up the full screen real-estate? I realize this will make it look stretched and low quality however I'm not fussed. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers
Nimos

You need to use scaling options of your GPU.

Right click on the desktop and select “Graphics Properties”. Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel will open.
Go to Display -> General Settings
On the right side you will see “Scaling”. Change this to “Scale Full Screen”.

In the Graphics Mode Setup select a different output, anything but surface should solve your problem.
To get rid of the black bars on the side, uncheck keep aspect ratio, you will get a stretched image though.

Hi Strikbout,

Thank you very much for your suggestion, I changed the graphic mode to OpenGL and I am now able to select a different resolution through the advanced options. It doesn't stretch it to full screen, however I can have a much larger window size and it fills this; plus the game is a different aspect ratio so it would have looked a little odd anyway.

Thank you Triock for your suggestion also.

Cheers

If you want to play fullscreen you have to make some changes to the .conf file manually, the Graphics Mode Setup program is not flexible enough or maybe even bugged.

If you go to your game folder, search for a file called something like gamenameDosbox.conf and open it with notepad.

[sdl]
fullscreen=true
fulldouble=true
fullresolution=desktop
windowresolution=original
output=opengl
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper-0.74.map
usescancodes=true

[render]
frameskip=0
aspect=false
scaler=normal3x
