In the first version of this game that I downloaded, 1.0.3, I could place wooden bridges. In recent versions I have not been able to place them. I cannot rotate the initial block with the CTRL key held down combined with motion of the mouse. When I attempt to stretch the bridge I get the beginning and end blocks, and that is all. No stretching occurs. I do own land on both sides of the river. Since this is the Valley map, I can pretty well give up on it if bridges have stopped working. I read somewhere, which I cannot now locate, that you have to have a road on both sides of the river, but how can I have a road on the other side if I cannot get there? I tried building a well across the river but the builder never goes there. Well, she should not, because she cannot hold her breath that long, but I thought maybe the game worked that way.

First off, make sure you have the most recent version of the game. 1.0.13.0222 as of this post.
CTRL doesn't rotate the bridge as it does with other buildings. But instead after you place it, you can click and drag the ends of the bridge to the locations you want.

Thank you! That did the trick. And FYI, 1.0.12.0220 is the latest version that manual installers have on GOG. GOG does not update manual installation files on weekends.
