I was reading in GOG general forum that the way to do it was to Remove characters from your party by go to i trainger and choose Remove in Pool Of Radiance and copy paste the save file into the Save file of Curse Of Azure Bonds.

But this do not sound correct to me, is it another way or is this actually the way you need to do it?.

Must say i love this Gold box series though there is many obvious programmer mistake in them .

Edit:Found out i could just take a Standard copy and put them directly in the folder with no fuss what so ever, i loaded in the characters (then you can just remove the old save files again to keep it tidy, then save Curse Of Azure Bonds before quiting ofc).
