As the title says...
I completely uninstalled the game while also removing local save game and user data. I re-installed and I am still in CGA graphics. How do I enable the DOS prompt to change to VGA graphics?

Thanks! :-)

IIRC the game only supports CGA and EGA (16 colours) - not VGA. That feature was added for other titles.

Title screen should look like this in EGA: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/c/cb/SotSS-title-screen-dos-amiga-2.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20180123234212
Ok fine, how do I change it back to EGA graphics like the first time I played the game?
It became CGA the 2nd time and is now stuck on that settings.

I think you must delete the file BLADES.CFG. Then, when you next start the game, it should prompt you to choose your graphics adapter once more.

Thanks for trying. :-)
It unfortunately didn't work. However, I found a work around. I don't run the game from GOG Galaxy, I run it from the DOSbox program where I need to manually mount the game from a DOS prompt. That fixed the issue and I am playing in EGA.
It's funny how all problems are solved by not using Galaxy.

Excellent! :)
I also had this problem, what I did was, download the setup file, and then disconnect from the internet (the download will be in the GOG files, in the game folder)
Then I uninstalled the game. did a computer clean-up to remove any residuals.
I then installed the game from the setup file and started the game and the graphics were back to EGA.
Then reconnect to the internet.
I've got this problem and do not understand the workaround that someone describes above. I expect games that I purchase from GOG to actually work, rather than having to fight with them like this. It is asking me for a save disk as well. Pools of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds worked fine, but this one loaded once, and won't work again.

I also have this problem, uninstalling the game and using the backup installer worked once and then it did this again.

Edit:

Removed the file BLADES.CFG in the cloud_saves directory seemed to fix it for me.
