So how can I get the sound to work with Menzoberranzan?
Naturally, I don't have any of the old sound cards for it to detect, and I'm just kind of getting this loud droning noise. Can't figure out how to get it working.

Weird, it should work right off the bat? You should contact GOG support directly.

Anyway, there should be a .conf file in that game folder somewhere. I don't know where, since i toss my DOS games into my own DOSBox folder. Check child folders as well.

If you edit it:
- There's a bit where you can find your emulated soundcard, search for "sbtype" and take note of the sbbase, irq, and dma. (sbbase is usually 220, irq is 5 or 7, dma is 1.)
- Right at the bottom there should be an [autoexec] bit and it either shows m.exe or menzo.bat.
You can temporarily change it to " sound.bat ", save it and run the game.

You'll enter the sound config and it'll ask you some questions. Click on:
I Will, Pro 16, Use 1.
Select the Sound Blaster 16 ASP (G), not the waveblaster one.

In the next screen, see if your settings here match what you found in the .conf file:
The address is called sbbase in the .conf file. If the address, irq, and dma are not the same as in the .conf file, say no and manually change these settings. Otherwise, say yes.

It should find your soundcard, and will save and exit.

After that you need to change your .conf file back to what it was, e.g. it needs to launch m.exe or menzo.bat, whatever was there.

As I've my own custom setup, I can't say if it'll work; maybe the gog .config has some other sound card selected.
So I check the IRQ and such in the file, and that's all correct. Matches what shows in the sound setup menu.
Use the 16 ASP, however it says it can't find the sound card, and asks if I want to redo or quit.
Got it working. I just uninstalled the game entirely and reinstalled, then went through the steps you mentioned to make sure everything was right and it's working.

Probably had something to do with the failed sound settings when I was trying to get it working at first.
Glad it's working! *thumbs up*
