So I finally beat the game that was sitting in my backlog for like 3 decades and... I'm pretty underwhelmed. Very linear with regular stages where backtracking is cut off, slooow movement, can't see beyond the pitifully short range of Light spell (but the party, OTOH, will instantly scan the pitch-black room and pinpoint the location of any items inside). If not for the excellent automap, I'd probably give up somewhere in the "descent to underdark" maze. At least it got better further on.

Now that I got it out of my system (and the game out of my backlog), I have some leftover issues with the items. Namely, I don't know what the following stuff does. Can anyone enlighten me?

Piwafwi cloaks? (just drow-flavor regular clothes, no other effect?)
Helm of disguise from Drizzt's cave? (I had an elf in my party, didn't wear it and had no problems with drow reactions until I got the plot-related disguise spell.)
Light pellets? (the D&D wikis say it's some king of a drow flashbang, but how do I use it? I can't throw them out of character's hand, when thrown with the mouse cursor all they do is light up the room a bit...)
Music box of healing? (does it do anything else than play a neat tune and be a quest item?)
Figurines? (clay golem, gold hammer-in-circle sign, star)
Torches?
Rod of Antilevitation?
White candle? (red casts some combat spell (which one?), blue casts lightning bolt, yellow gives light when lit, black darkens the area when lit, I just can't figure out the white)

And is it just me, or is the Levitation spell useless? It doesn't seem to let you move when levitating, and every time you need to go up it's only to cross some ground-level barrier. It'd be useful to just push some button high up, but I never found any.

Also, is there any way to cure the sick dwarves (the aboleth-addled one in the mines and the poisoned prisoner in the temple) without recruiting them into the party and having them be physically present when you get the fountain water/fungal antidote? It doesn't seem I can get the water/fungus back to them otherwise.

You don't need it. You could also cast a heal spell on your shapechanged characters and they would revert to their natural state. The game doesn't give a shit.

I also found that spell to be useless.

I could only heal them by inviting them into my party.

Strangely you could also invite Azarell, who is a yochlol in disguise, into your party and she never turns on you. Stays loyal and faithful to the end.
