I've always been a big fan of the Gold Box Games and I was wondering if anyone knew of any Gold Box style newer games. I am aware of Dungeon Craft, but are there any indie games over the years that have tried to recreate the GBG style?

I have heard of a game called Knights of the Chalice, which bases its mechanics off the d20 system. There is a demo for that game (which contains a scenario not in the full game itself), but the demo is, from what I have heard, actually harder than the full game.

(My one criticism from my attempt at playing the demo; there should have been an option to make the game easier by making the enemy AI less smart.)

Knights of the Chalice combat was really well done. It was more like Dark Sun though, no first person exploration.
