Greetings.
I find myself on only a pad for a couple of days so suddenly the question if they work on a android pad got relevant for me.
If someone could answer I'd be grateful.

The games tend to *require* a keyboard (or a way to emulate one), as the early games don't even have mouse support in the first place.

Hm. True. I suppose a touch screen wouldn't work.

Try the free Hacker's Keyboard Android app. It's made to emulate a PC keyboard and I've had to use it before for some PC-ported apps that don't like the standard Android keyboards.

That wasn't a very intuitive app but I'll keep trying to test it. Thanks's for the tip.

I couldn't figure out the keyboard app so I'll give you the solution.
For the most part, you don't technically need every single key at all times. Aside from entering words (like for names), you only need keys for moving, attacking, etc. and you could technically assign those keys to buttons.

I mean, there ARE dungeon crawlers for iOS/Android devices.
