Hi all,

Booted this up a couple times but haven't had the chance to really dig into it yet. Right off the top I haven't found a way to gracefully quite to main menu or to desktop. How can you do this?

Also is there a way to set up WASD, Q, and R for the directional movement or is it going to be buttons and arrow keys the whole way?

thanks in advance
I would also like to find an answer to this. Right now I basically have to Alt-Tab out of the window and then force WIndows to close the window. I do not know how to do it from within DosBox.

Thanks
The way I used to exit the game was to Encamp, attempt to Save but then hit ESC, then the game will ask you if you want to quit.

This is actually the way it's supposed to be done. Whenever you attempt to save the game, it will ask if you want to quit to DOS. If you don't want to save, just hit ESC and it will give you the option to quit without saving.

I've been doing it for so many years now that I sometimes forget it's not exactly intuitive in this day and age for people who aren't used to it.
Ive actually been working on this today. I grew up on the C64 version and used a controller for everything. I find it tedious to use the keyboard for this stuff especially since I dont have a number pad. I've set up my original 3 Gold Box games as follows:

Installed them via GOG Galaxy.

Installed the Gold Box Companion from here:

http://gbc.zorbus.net/

Installed Joy to Key from here:

https://joytokey.net/en/

I think some of the features from the GBC make the games more enjoyable. Especially being able to play to Ranger in PoR. If youre a purist, more power to you.

I set up Joy to Key to work with my XBox 360 controller and mapped the POV hat to the number keys. I mapped the A button (button #1) to ENTER and the B button to ESC.

It still doesnt work quite like it did on the C64 as there is no way to just button into the menu like you could on a C64 as far as I know.

I would love to hear if anyone has improvements!

EDIT: I also found that making the L bumper and the R bumber the , and . keys allows for menu navigation, but so far I havent been able to find an execute button. On the C64 it was the joystick fire button.

Oh, in response to your actual question, I have my BACK button on my controller to end DosBox.
