Title says it all. Yea, I know what it says on the tin, but I'm more interested in opinion of people that actually played both and can compare.

As a side note - lack of official linux support is criminal offense ;)

I agree! I hope at least amiga music will be there in updated version as it was genius.

Amiga soundtrack is unbeatable, though the PC original port had more cinematics. Here we have some gameplay improvements for modern times like rewind function and some cool effects like bloom and CRT emulation, filter looks bad, I prefer retro pixel-art style, but that's personal preference . I would say it's pretty decent version which is worth the price.

I have tried running it in wine-staging v3.21. The launcher works fine, but the game screen just stays black. Too bad. :(
I'm confused too. Is this a remake of the 2013 remake or just a remaster? Or is it a directors cut with more scenes that weren't included in the original version of the game and or 2013 remake? Is the original version the amiga or the mega drive version? Is this the same release as the more expensive Nintendo Switch version? So many questions.

Yeah, just to be clear, it's great news GOG released this game here! I just wish it will have more features with time. Good job, GOG!

You are confused in a different way than the OP. This is a remaster of the original game, a PC port of the one released first for the Nintendo Switch in July of this year by Microïds. The 2013 Flashback is another game altogether, even if it can qualify as a "remake".

It is my understanding that the original was developed for the MegaDrive, but was first released as the Amiga port (in 1992). In fact the Amiga had a similar style main menu screen to the PC version (1993), but this remaster has a MegaDrive styled one, which is very different.

In both graphics and sound, I prefer the PC version, but it is completely subjective. And this new version comes with MIDI music, which is the main reason many claim the Amiga music to be better than the PC's; while the graphics are, as far as I could see, heavily leaning towards the PC version.

There was a later PC CD release with different cinematics (with voice-overs in them as well), but they do not mix well with the game in my opinion. Glad to see they were discarded for this new version.

BTW, since I have been playing in DOSBox lately instead of real DOS, I use Munt to emulate MT-32, and I never looked back. Sounds spectacular.

I've read that the cinematics for Amiga were there, but were disabled by default when playing from floppies; otherwise the loading times would have been a nuisance.

Anyone knows if this is true?

Just found out that CD version was a port of the Sega CD... Who'da thunk it? :P

Only thing to "complain" about in this version is music and sound effects, they were better in the Amiga version (for my taste)
Thank you for your answers, guys, especially to Links, with his detailed description of the confusing release and re-release history.

From what i gather - if you don't care for rewind and co - this version doesn't offer that much more than the original of your preference (Amiga or PC, depending on music vs visuals). Personally, as i tend to not buy new games that doesn't support Linux (or at least doesn't *officially* support running it through wine and have some good technical reason for it), so I think I will pass.

Cheers,
