Okay, so I downloaded and hit "Play" - all I get is myself, apparently in an elevator - spinning around in circles that I can't get to stop (obviously totally unplayable) - any suggestions??? Not sure how to access options or anything in the game.

Thanx,

UPDATE: Not sure what was causing it - but it stopped when I disconnected my Joystick. I finally played with this for 5-10 minutes and absolutely HATE the way this game is so damned "Linear" - I just got to the watchtower and turned the power on - I hope this gets better - only paid $4.99 for it - but so far - it seems like it was $4.99 too much!!!

Sorry. Yes it's a disappointingly linear game and while the story goes off to a promising start, it doesn't hold up far past mid-game..
That Joystick seems like an old Unity bug, weird.

About the story I think it's personal.
I love the fact how the game is linear as it compliments the story in my opinion.

But if you're in open world story / discovery than this might not be your game, I can see why.

Even a linear-story game like this could have a little something to do and explore between the story nuggets. There's hawk's nest.. which is completely optional? Or was it? I can't remember. But overall, it feels like the game punishes you for staying off the beaten path. Like when you're supposed to go to the firefighters' camp. There's another route open west of you, leading to that fancy tree and a cache nearby. Of course when the story tells you to go to place A and another place B is accessible, my gamer instinct says to explore place B first. Only you'll find nothing there. And then you need to get back to your tower. Only so the story can tell you about this place B that you should be going to explore because there's a cache.. oh you'll recognize the place by the fancy tree in that picture up there. Yeah yeah, already been there. NOW there's an item in the cache? Fine, I'll go there again, sigh.

I don't know, if there's practically nothing to do except follow the very narrow linear path the game sets you up on, I'd almost rather watch it (a movie) or click through it (VN). If you're giving me the freedom to play it and try to interact with it, then make it real and reward me a little for doing just that? There are plenty ways to do that without changing the linear narrative. Could fill you in on some background and things the story just glosses over. As it is, walking over and occassionally pressing space to cross a knee-high obstacle is not fun, interesting, rewarding, or exciting in any meaningful way.

Anyway, I'd totally forgive the linearity and boring mechanics if they didn't drop the ball on the story halfway through :/

I totally agree on going to places and caches that suddenly contain something, it was quite odd. They could have done that better.

There's however a side story-line which is entirely optional and mostly can only be discovered by exploring the map besides the main story. It's mainly text though. The Hawk's Rest was indeed also one of the optional parts. Finding the Raccoon scared the crap out of me haha.
