Can GoG really look into this or even speak with Dege at vogons to let them patch the screen issues of this game.

ddwrapper patch made for this game "works" but it doesn't bring the game into higher resolutions and it is always iffy on fullscreen mode

Chaos Gate also suffers the same issues, and Shadow of the horned rat suffers the same since it is a mix of wing32.dll and ddraw and in need of a wing32 patch on the likes done to HOMM1 and 2.

what happened to the GoG that would send tech people to look at this and fix it?

If you like Dege's work then just use it. If GoG made a deal to distribute Dege's dgvoodoo2... they might still not be able to use it because of an unacceptable amount of friction with anti-virus heuristics.

I don't see any ddraw wrappers included with the game?

How do you expect to bring a 2D bitmap into a higher resolution?
That seems like a job for the display driver.
The best that could be done is a custom scaling algorithm...like Scale2X or HQX?

As I said on Vogons... I think you misunderstand the WinG situation with SOTHR and HOMM.

I ended up playing Chaos Gate in the BoxedWine emulator, though I don't remember why at this time.

2 years after your answer and here we are, not only GoG listened to the pleas, but also the game runs wonderfully now, is even Steam Overlay and ShaderGlass Compatible which is great, i give a salute for GoG Preservation team for this one.

Now i hope they look into updating WHFB games even more with SOTHR getting the same treatment and maybe Dark Omen in the future.

Indeed, i was cautious in keeping my old offline installer , remembering how gog "preservation" broke dragon age origins
But no, this time the "preserved" game works really great, i could go through a few battles and movies without a single crash with this "preservation" update of Final Liberation.

Thanks aqrit or everyone else involved in fixing that good old game

Though for some reason the new offline installer is nearly 1GB ? +400mb more than the older offline installer. I wonder why.
But at least this time it works !

My post still stands. I don't even have to look at the update.

1. It is not using dgvoodoo2.
2. It is still 640x480, even if they hacked it up to stretch to 100 billion pixels.
