This game is impossible to play in anything but a small window. Im on win10, latest update, i7 5820k, gtx 1080 latest drivers, 32 gigs ddr4.

Ive attached an image. When the game is in full screen you get flashing black bars everywhere and it only gets worse after the menu and once the game starts. Its unplayable...which is a shame

here is the image, for some reason gog wont let me upload it despite it being under 2mb.

Can you specify what's your 4k TV model? it has HDR? (I can remember some users with a similar problem who have solved this by switching the HDR and Advance Color from Display Settings)
TV 4K SONY LED kd-49xf7596 (HDR) /i7 6700/GTX1060/16GB

Window mode - ok
Full screen - :( (flashing black bars)

It's an LG OLED but HDR can't have anything to do with it because I don't have HDR turned on in Windows.

LG HDR TV's have 2 different sets of picture preset menus. One displays when watching SDR content and the other when watching HDR.

Since I have HDR turned off in Windows and I only turn it on for HDR games I'm on an SDR mode setting. In my case "Expert room dark" because it's been professionally calibrated and expert opens up many more settings.

That said I also tried it in SDR game mode and that didn't make a difference. So the game must have an issue running 4k full screen and a separate issue when running 4k full screen with HDR enabled in Windows

Have you tried turning off filters and scanlines in the options? Perhaps they don't scale too well and that's what's causing problems.

I play with those things turned off anyways, I like beat 'em ups but I'm more used to the kind of look you had on 800x600 PC monitors which didn't have visible scanlines that I remeber of and were much charper than equivalent TVs of the time.

I tried every in game option and I also went into my display settings and made sure no "enhancements" were turned on.

I don't have this issue with any other game. I can get the game running in Window mode however its a small window and from 7 feet away it's not really what I would consider playable.

I also tried running it via a virtual machine running win xp and win 7. Gotta be a bug in the game.
Fight'N Rage allows 4k screens.
Note that previously, some people have experiment this kind of issues on some 4k Smart TV (Usually LG's ones). (https://steamcommunity.com/app/674520/discussions/0/1696045708653371793/)

Changing in-game display options will not solve the problem, because it must be solved directly on your TV options.

Remember that this is not a Fight'N Rage issue... maybe can help to know that, sometimes it was fixed changing the TV's HDR setup, even some users fixed that only updating their smart tv internal softwares.
I tested it on 2 LG OLEDS, a 2016 model and a 4k non HDR PC monitor and the results were the same.

I know you're saying it can't be a bug with the game but it has to be. I tested it and had the same issue on a device that doesn't support HDR plus HDR is not even enabled on the TV unless it gets an HDR signal and you can't change or even see HDR settings on the TV unless it gets an HDR signal.

I changed every setting on the TV as well and nothing happened and I've never experienced this is any other game.

I don't want to but I'm going to have to return it today. There is seemingly no way to fix the issue and playing the game in a small window from 7 feet away isn't an option.

I don't know what to say. If the game works on windows it HAS to work on fullscreen unless any external software modify the video memory in some ways (are you using any screen capture-recording software?). There's no internal difference between fullscreen and window mode, except the window size, wich has nothing to do with the internal game video process.
Btw... changing the screen resolution doesn't solve the problem?
Do you test it on another kind of TV?

I've seen talk of changing HDR settings, but what about Judder Reduction or enabling Game Mode? Both affect the framerate of the TV and how things are displayed. Changing those has helped resolve 4K visual issues in a couple of other games for me, wondering if it would help here.
