you can buy empires and play with the empires combat, medieval is a sequel of FoG2 but it has nothing to do with empires, you ONLYcan export batles from empires to FIELD OF GLORY 2 the empires system works on roll dices, every single unit fighting roll 2 or 3 dices(depends on some conditions) after modifies the best score wins and the lose unit will perish or get fatigued,
The field of glory 2 combat is more liike a turn based total war,( its a wargame like dba, warhammer fantasy or adlg) adn yeah the battles are good, but a huge empires battle ported to fog2 could take like a hour to complete, and sometimes you had like 3 or 5 battles per turn, i do not recomend to export all the battles of empires,
and about if worth it? well i already had fog2 when empires was launched i tried and its a great game, the decadence mechanic its a great adition to the genre and you could give a try if are tired of the paradox formula
