After the new update, F.E.A.R. Platinum crashes to desktop instantly after launch and it's now unplayable. Thanks a lot, GOG...
Hey,

Did you run the 'Config.exe' file after the update? If not, that might help. You can find the file in the game folder (\F.E.A.R. Platinum Collection\).

"Limited FPS to 60 (configurable)"

How do I configure this? Definitely isn't in a manual addendum or the Config.exe. It's locked to 60 FPS now.

The original game and the expansions were functioning just fine at 240 FPS +. The Steam version is still running at high frame rates with the dinput8.dll v1.0. I replaced the dinput8.dll from the latest update, and it didn't resolve the 60 FPS lock, so it's coming from somewhere else - probably another library (.dll).

So at this point, I'm better of backing up the Steam version or the GOG version before this last update. Being forced into a 60 FPS lock doesn't make sense.

Also back up the dinput8.dll v1.0.

Okay so, i managed to find the .ini file that contains the settings to change, its called dxwrapper.ini, also dont make this mistake, if you installed the Echo Patch make sure to disable its framerate limiter on its .ini by setting it to 0, if you have both framerate limiters enabled (both GOG dxwrapper.ini and EchoPatch.ini), you'll get weird screen-space artifacting in the shadows, just use the framerate limit inside dxwrapper.ini and set it to 120, anything more than that supposedly breaks the game
Thanks, changing the 60 to 120 fps limit on the dxwrapper.ini file worked for me.

Find this line on the .ini:

LimitPerFrameFPS = 60

Wow, thanks! This works! Some documentation would have been nice GOG!
