Hi everyone, love this series and it seems with all the new updates/support to the game I picked the right time to play it again. It's been a few years and I have a much stronger computer now (SSD, 4070 Super, AMD Ryzen 7 7700, 32gb RAM), but despite this, even with the new update + Echo patch, the game still seems to stutter when a scripted event loads in or maybe from the map loading as I progress through the level?

At least I think that's what's happening. Most notably near the start of the game when you walk through a small whispy cloud and a spooky image flashes on the screen, but as I progress through the level it happens to a lesser extent when entering new areas.

I've spent a few hours troubleshooting, changing settings in the game, in the EchoPatch.ini file, and settings for the .exe in Nvidia control panel. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! Though, if this is simply a "quirk" of the game, I understand.

For anyone reading, I did find the solution to this!

For the base game, you have to turn off VSync and set all your other graphics settings how you like, close out of the game, then use RivaTuner to force the framerate limit of FEAR.exe to 59.9915 (select the Framerate Limit box and type it in, then press enter), and also use Nvidia control panel's Manage 3D settings menu to ONLY override/set the following settings for the game's executable (FEAR.exe):

"Power Management" to "Prefer Maximum Performance"
"Vertical Sync" to "On"

When using the Echo patch, do the above but also change the "MaxFPS = 120" to "MaxFPS = 0" in the EchoPatch.ini file so that only RivaTuner is limiting the framerate.

Likely, you'll have to repeat the above steps for FEARXP.exe and FEARXP2.exe (both of the expansions) when you play those as well.

I hope this helps anyone who had the same issue I did.
