Got some good feedback and support for the FC2 "update" mod I released a while back. I completely forgot to mention the full Redux mod had released as well.

This is fully GOG compatible!
Just to plug this guy's work for the casual reader - the Far Cry 2 Hunter's Update Mod (by this same user) is the definitive way to play. It's a categorical improvement on the vanilla game and better in every way. I've only started messing around with the Redux but am excited to see all the creative changes it introduces.
Is there any mod that removes respawning enemies and adds better fast travel?

No. Neither are possible at this time.

Bumping to mention two things.

1. Redux was updated to its final/finished release in mid August. The mod now features a full holster (auto + manual) system, playable female characters, and more!

2. The Far Cry 2.5 "New Dunia Remastered" mod has stolen features and art from Redux. Don't support this crap.

I have seen a lot of people to want that, asking on different forums - as I do guess it was not just one person, under various nicknames? But come on, perhaps if to slow down the respawn of enemies somewhat, would be enough for those who feel pressed by the momentum. Eventually, the political and social landscape of 'Far Cry 2', is a state of war. Personnel replacements are expected. Besides, I do understand if ammo was limited, other resources scarce, running vehicles hard to obtain - but again, the way the entire "mechanical clockwork" of 'Far Cry 2' is engineered, makes just good enough sense - albeit I have only started playing the game just recently and also hopefully, understanding it. There is quite a bit to understand about 'Far Cry 2', in order to appreciate it, the way how to play the game and how to handle it, samewise as with 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'. It is perfectly reasonable nonetheless some players would not accept or like this kind of gameplay. It is niche. But it appears that 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.', at least the original one, is a bit more linear than 'Far Cry 2', but the gameplay of 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.', can be more burdensome.

BigTinz, thanks for your work.
I've noticed a very significant performance hit with Redux. I'm looking forward to playing with gameplay tweaks, but would prefer to keep graphics vanilla and its frames per second.
Any advice on to how to exclude graphical tweaks?

Edit: I got it. It was Ultra High Geometry that was tanking my fps. On Very High Geometry I can barely see any difference in LODs, but fps went from 80 in some scenes to 140.

Correct! Very high in Redux = Ultra in Vanilla.

Ultra is now "ULTRA+".

I will say, if you are playing the story, you do NOT want your game running that fast.

Dunia engine falls apart internally at high frame rates, and I must recommend capping at 60. The included MF Launcher tool will handle this for everyone. Not capping will eventually bug the game out, and can corrupt saves.

@Uber, do you get the "wwwwwww" main menu issue with the GOG version?

If so, please update to the newest release of Redux and let me know if it's still there. I think I fixed that internally.

@Machine & everyone - It is, unfortunately, NOT POSSIBLE to slow down, the respawn behavior for outpost enemies. It's just not how the game works. You can disable it, but that's it.

If this is your mod, then thank you! I played Far Cry 2 years ago, and eventually quit specifically because I was waiting for a mod to show up that removes the hand-holdy stuff like magic signs that turn red, flashing gold weapons, and a wondrous paper map that shows exactly where you are at all times. Not to mention a diamond finder.

Far Cry 2, IMO, should have always been a place to get lost in, outnumbered in, and outgunned.

Thrilled to get sick in the Sahel once again. Thanks!

Hope you dig it. Please let me know what you think!
Howdy ya'll.

Just did a big update to Redux that now allows the player to choose long/short taxi ride, and yes/no player position on the map.

Fix a few bugs as well.

hi, theres 2 versions with different dates, is the gog version updated as well?
The GOG version has not been updated yet, but the only difference is the main menu file that fixes the "wwwwwwww" visual bug in the GOG menu.

You can use the updated version for the GOG release and the game will be fine. It's what I use.
