I bought the standard edition before I knew the other editions would be available (My fault for being eager and not waiting to research around). I definitely want some of the things in the hero edition, so it would be nice to see upgrade DLC available (I don't mind paying a bit more for that).

The plan is to offer upgrades down the line at a sligtjly higher pricce, yes. Do n ot know exactyl when, though.

You could ask GOG (via support) for a refund explaining you want the Hero Edition instead - they are quite good at sorting things like this out. This way you won't have to wait for the upgrade path.
