I got F1/2 on GoG a long time ago and just now realized that my version and the current version of the games are different.

Can someone explain why that is?
What are the differences?

I wonder if the "classic" versions are getting the same GoG Preservation Program treatment as the currently-listed versions.

I bought the current versions when they released a while ago, but found that they seemed to be the same as the "classic" versions, which had also been given the widescreen / modern resolution support the new ones got, so I returned the newer ones.

I'm wondering about this, too, being as Fallout 2 just got an update from the Preservation Program, but my Fallout 2 Classic doesn't show an update.
Is there a technical difference currently between Classic Fallout 2 and New Fallout 2? I have both but since New-Fallout 2 is in the GOG program now, do I need to update or patch it?

There's a more recent version of Sfall in the new Fallout 2. You need to update Sfall manually in classic Fallout 2.

Why? What exactly is this "Sfall"? Isn't it some kind of custom mod? Do you really "need" it?

Yes - Sfall is a mod that comes with the game. You don't need it but in general it is a very good addition cause it helps deal with a lot of problems the game has and it even prevents/fixes some possible bugs so I would recommend it. For example I know that if you save during combat your save can get corrupted. Personally I have hit quick save by misake several times instead of quick load during combat. This mod prevents you from saving in combat (after your first turn). The best part is the highlight button ofc - loot, dead bodies, etc but it has a lot more!

The "Classic" version was uncut and uncensored before delisting and the current version for sell is heavily censored.

Good Old Games Uncut Uncensored and DRM free, was the old GOG slogan.
