Fallout is probably one of the best games ever made. From start to finish it is an endlessly entertaining experience that keeps the player asking more and more questions about the extremely well-detailed post-apocalyptic world that Interplay has created. It has some of the funniest black humour woven smoothly with a creepy plot and charming dialogue. The background music, albeit getting a bit repetitive at times, sets the mood perfectly and maintains a level of tensity that keeps the player lusting to know what's around the corner.
The level of character creation options is simply astounding,. It is very easy but very difficult at the same time to make a useless character; with a bit of creativity and ingenuity, hilarious and often unpredictable results come from a character that would otherwise be deemed useless. Probably the most interested option available is the Low Intelligence option, which basically makes your character unable to speak with anyone in the world. Although they can still complete the main quest, it still makes the experience fun and challenging albeit rather limited.
Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys an RPG and even to those who say that don't relish the RPG brand - Fallout may just wet your lips for more. It is definitely one of the under appreciated gems in today's world. It is truly sad to see what Bethesda has done with Fallout 3 (also known as "TESIV: Oblivion But With Assault Rifles") as it no where near the brilliance of this charming game.
