Hay there. Noob to GoG, literally hear about it about an hour ago. After searching the Steam forums for a clear answer as to how FO 1, 2 and Tactics plays on Windows Vista 64-Bit (Home Premium if you want to be really specific), and after hearing the boasts of many users of GoG's special Hat of Awesomeness that gives a +10 stat-boost to giving-a-damn and compatibility-testing skills, decided to wander over and see what the deal is. Are the games bug free, to the point where I can play the games, with no patches, and enjoy them without getting annoyed?
Sorry if this question's been answered elsewhere, I did a quick forum search and no topics came up relevant to Vista-64 bit, or Vista at all, and compatibility, and I didn't want to scrounge through 400 topics with the words "Fallout" and "Vista" in them for a relevant comment.
Thanks in advance! GoG seems like an alright place, and if my experience with the forums here and with buying the games seems good, I'll pro'lly stick around for some moar games.

Thay are all combatibile. I'm even playing Tactics on Win 7 64 bit now...
They are compatible like igor8472 says, you won't need any user made patches to play them though I will recommend the childrens patch.

All it does is add kids back into the game because they were removed due to censorship. It only affects one quest but its nice to beable to do all the quests.
As for getting annoyed just make sure you safe fairly often in fallout 1 in different save slots. Main reason for this is sometimes the npcs will be stupid and stand in the only doorway in or out and unfortunaly other then shooting them or waiting around for ages for them to maybe move there is no way to shift them. You don't need to worry about that in fallout 2 as you can actually push them out the way.
Alright, thanks for the reassurance guys. I prolly won't be getting the games for a month or so, so how easy is it to fix the kid thing with the patch? (I ask because, while I get around the internet all fine, I'm about as computer savvy as a poodle is capable of running a country of tigers.)
All you need to do to install it, is locate your fallout 1 folder, extract the contents of the falloutchildrens zip file straight into the fallout folder and allow it to overwrite whatever files it needs to.
Arr. Thanks!
Okay, just so I got this clear, extract the patch to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\GOG.com\Fallout? Should I select "Extract and update files" or "extract and replace files"?

Extract and replace or just highlight the files in the zip drag and drop them into the folder and when asked to overwrite say yes.

Wrong directory though...
Thats the only folder I have labelled "Fallout". It contains "documents", a file folder, the "Fallout" application, and the "uninstall fallout" application.

Hi,
The folder you mentioned it's the start menu folder.
If it's the gog version of Fallout 1 you have installed the game folder should be in C:\ProgramFiles\Gog\Fallout

Sorry I didn't actually read your file path just the question about replacing the files. Namur has the right file path that you need to extract the patch into.

Thanks for noticing that, didn't even notice that myself.

No problem ;)
I went to C:\ProgramFiles\, but Gog isn;t anywhere in there. I also tried going directly to that location, but theres nothing under that path. I can play FO just fine though, so is there anywhere else the appropriate files would be?

It should be where i said, provided it's the gog version and that you didn't change the install path when installing.
Since you're on a 64bit OS try
C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\GOG.com\Fallout
Edit: This is not a folder you'll find on your start menu. You have to look for it by going into your C: Drive, i.e. you have to go directly to that location like you said
If it's not the gog version, it's somewhere else. Look for folders named 'Interplay' or 'Black Isle' in the ProgramFiles(x86) folder.
You can always right click the Fallout Shortcut on your desktop, choose properties, switch to the 'Shortcut' tab, and look to the 'target' field. That field will show you the exact path to the Fallout executable.
