Hello fellow GOG Wastelanders!

I'm excited to share a new mod I've been working on for the past couple of weeks, specifically designed for our GOG version of Fallout 4 GOTY Edition. As many of us know, managing legendary effects can be a bit clunky, and compatibility with other mods can often lead to a "patching nightmare." I aimed to solve that.

What is this mod?
This is an F4SE plugin that empowers you to dynamically detach and reattach legendary effects from any legendary-capable weapon or armor piece.

Key Features & Why It's Unique:

True Dynamic Legendary Management: Unlike most other legendary overhaul mods, this mod does NOT modify any base weapon or armor records (ARMO, WEAP FormIDs) in the game. This means it offers unparalleled compatibility with your existing weapon, armor, and rebalance mods, drastically reducing the need for countless compatibility patches.

Zero Dependencies (beyond F4SE): My mod is built directly against Fallout4.esm and uses the power of F4SE to dynamically discover and manage legendary effects across all loaded plugins. This makes it incredibly clean and lightweight.

Safe to Remove (for existing items): A significant advantage over some other legendary mods is that this mod does NOT modify in-game data in a destructive way. It merely uses the game's existing mechanics to attach/remove OMODs. This means if you decide to remove this mod, any items you've already modified will retain their legendary effects and modifications; you will only lose the ability to detach or apply new OMODs using my system. You won't find your previously modded legendary items reverting to their base form, as can happen with other solutions.

Detach & Reattach with Ease:

Find a legendary item? Detach its effect into a new, loose "NL - WEAP/ARMO - [Effect Name] Core" item in your inventory.

Want to put that effect on your favorite custom weapon or armor? Just attach the corresponding "Legendary Core" from your inventory at an Armour or Weapon workbench.

No more relying on random legendary drops for specific items, or hoping for patches!

How it Works (The Magic Under the Hood):
My F4SE plugin actively scans for all legendary Object Modifications (OMODs) loaded in your game.

When you interact with an item at a workbench and choose to detach a mod: It dynamically creates a representation of the detached legendary effect as a "NL - WEAP/ARMO - [Effect Name] Core" item in your inventory.

When you choose to apply a legendary effect: My plugin intercepts the crafting process and ensures the correct legendary OMOD is applied to your chosen item.

Important Compatibility & Requirements:

GOG Version 1.10.163 ONLY: This mod is compiled specifically for the GOG Fallout 4 GOTY Edition (version 1.10.163).

NOT Compatible with "Next-Gen" (1.10.984+) Steam Version: This mod will not work with the latest "Next-Gen" update for Fallout 4 on Steam or other Steam versions. Please ensure your game matches the GOG 1.10.163 version.

Requires Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE): You will need F4SE installed and working for your specific GOG game version.

Mod Manager Setup (GOG Users): If you use a mod manager like Mod Organizer 2 (MO2), remember to add the argument -forcesteamloader in the Arguments field for your F4SE executable. This is crucial for F4SE plugins to load correctly with the GOG version of the game.

Installation: This mod is packaged and can be installed with whatever Mod Manager you use (e.g., Mod Organizer 2, Vortex).

Current Limitations:

Equipped Items Only: You can only detach or attach legendary effects to weapons or armor pieces that are currently equipped by your character. The recipes would not show for unequipped items.

Workbench UI Naming: The crafting menu at the workbench will display options like "Legendary" for applying effects and "No Legendary" for removing them.

"Legendary" means: Use a corresponding "NL - WEAP/ARMO" MISC item from your inventory and apply its stored legendary effect to the selected base item.

"No Legendary" means: Remove the legendary effect from the selected item and spawn it as a "NL - WEAP/ARMO - [Effect Name] Core" MISC item in your player's inventory.

User Caution (Multiple Cores): If you have multiple loose legendary cores of the same type (e.g., several different "NL - WEAP - [Effect] Core" items for weapons), the crafting menu does not show which specific core will be consumed. It is highly recommended to only have the desired "NL - WEAP/ARMO - [Effect Name] Core" item in your inventory when attempting to apply it to avoid accidental consumption of the wrong core or application of an unintended effect.

If you accidentally apply the wrong effect, you can simply remove it again (it costs nothing) and then apply the desired one.

Original Legendary Slot Logic: This mod does not add legendary slots to items that don't inherently have them (e.g., underwear, some helmets). It works with items that are already capable of receiving legendary effects (either vanilla or from other mods that correctly define ap_legendary attachment points).

Known Behaviors / Advanced Usage:

Cross-Type Application: This mod does not distinguish between Weapon OMODs and Armor OMODs during application. You can technically apply a "Weapon" legendary core to an Armor piece, and vice-versa. However, be aware that the game engine may exhibit some odd behavior in such cases. For example, a "Lucky Weapon" effect applied to an armor piece may not display as "Lucky Armor..." or may behave unexpectedly. This flexibility is part of the dynamic system, but use it with caution.

Modding Mid-Playthrough (Load Order Changes): The mod dynamically aligns Object Modifications (OMODs) to your "NL - WEAP/ARMO" MISC items at every game start. If you add or remove mods that introduce new weapons/armors/legendary effects, or if you change your mod load order significantly during a playthrough, the internal mapping between your MISC items and their corresponding legendary effects may become misaligned. This could result in a different effect being applied than intended when you use a "Legendary Core" in a recipe.

Recommendation: Either only detach and apply OMODs at the time you intend to use them on another item (i.e., don't hoard many detached cores across load order changes).
Or, if you plan to collect multiple "Legendary Core" MISC items, try to avoid changing your mod load order or adding/removing mods that introduce new legendaries during that specific playthrough.

I'm currently putting the mod through some rigorous testing in a personal playthrough with my usual 50-60 mods to ensure stability and catch any real-world issues.

If you'd like to help test the mod, please reply to this topic or send me a message and I provide a download link!

I'm excited to hear your thoughts and feedback!
