I know this is probably unlikely, but never say never I suppose.

I have never heard of one. I'm pretty sure there isn't, because the game is actually played on a hex grid, so you would need six directional buttons instead of just 4 to move around.

I would recommend trying the game anyway even though it has mouse control, because it's a great game, but if the lack of WASD is a dealbreaker for you, then the Fallout games are probably not for you. To be honest, the Fallout interface is dated and can be fairly awkward. I forgave that because I found the rest of the games so enjoyable, but I can understand being put off by the interface.

What's wrong with using a mouse? I always loved how you can play the entire game (almost. some parts, like the character creation, require keyboard) just using the mouse.

I hate to use a mouse when gaming. The absolute only time that I find a mouse to be a viable option in a video game is in a FPP game or in a point & click adventure game (& I'm not even a huge fan of them).

I can't guarantee that you'll like Fallout 1-2, then.
They use the mouse for various commands.
But you shouldn't give up before trying, you may like it, anyway.

If I remember correctly, you can use the keyboard for movement in Fallout Tactics, but I'm not sure. If you like strategy games focused in combat, you should give a chance to the demo.
There's a few solutions i think could be used, specifically in fallout tactics. ive been thinking about this because its the only thing that annoys me about the game, i love playing it until i realize i've been playing the same short mission for 25 minutes lol. There are plenty of similiar styled games ive played where you press forward with w, backward with s, and left/right side step with a&d. And the mouse controls the 6 directional turn, even in a top down view. you'd just hold shift or something to toggle out of the character when you need to go back in freecam and view around the map. as far as the rest of the controls, there are already hot keys for all the commands, even autofire, aggressive mode, ect. this way you can toggle between characters fast and easy and maneuver them individually or as a group just as easy. lol idk, im not a coder, be all the same, this could simply be an option in the menu. and not a big mod either, id rather see this as a mod than the countless dumb mods for better looking guns and characters and animations, blah blah
