UPDATE: Issue has been resolved. See next post for details on the solution.

Hello all,

I've having issues with the mouse causing lag/low fps during gameplay. This happens mostly in the areas where you can click to move your character. If I move the mouse pointer to the bottom GUI panel where all button and the feedback box is, the game speed goes back to normal.

So, for example, I click to move my character, the character moves slow, but if I quickly move the mouse to the bottom area with the bottoms, it goes back to normal. So, it seems the mouse is the cause of the lag I guess.

Can anyone provide some solutions? (I've tried for 3 days w/o any luck lol)

Here's some info on what's all installed and the install order, with each install tested.

1. Installed Fallout 1 (GOG version) - starts and plays w/o issues. C:\GOG Games\Fallout
2. Installed Fallout 2 (GOG version) - starts and plays w/o issues. C:\GOG Games\Fallout 2
3. Installed latest Restoration Project Update (RPU) - starts and plays w/o issues. Installed to C:\GOG Games\Fallout 2 folder
4. Copied the Fallout1in2 folder to Fallout 2 folder, so it's looks like: C:\GOG Games\Fallout 2\Fallout1in2
--Everything starts and loads w/o any issues. All mod changes work. But the mouse seems to make the game lag as mentioned above.
5. Copied the 2 fo2tweaks files (dat & ini) to the mods folder above (Fallout1in2\mods\) and added a line in ddraw.ini and it loads w/o any issues. Edited the ini file to personalize settings.

Some things I've tried are:
- Disabled V-Sync in NVidia control panel for the Fallout2.exe file in the \Fallout1in2 folder.
- Checked all recommended settings, most were already set by default, so only changed mostly personal preferences. (problem occurred before changes, just fyi)
- Installation already set max fps to 60, I think in the f2_res.ini file. (but I set it in NVidia control panel just in case too)
- FO2Tweaks.ini is the only file I really tweaked heavily, basically enabling a lot of features. (Again, the low fps issue happened before I installed this mod)

My system specs are:
--------------------
Windows 7 Pro
i7-6700k
16gb Ram
EVGA 1080 8GB video card
Samsung SSD drive
1440p monitor

- All systems updates to latest version before I disconnected the ethernet card. I keep an updated backup SSD just in case too lol.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I'm posting the solution to the above problem in the event others run into the issue after installing RPU and Fallout1in2 (also known as Fallout ET TU).

Here's a list of things that were changed:
------------------------------------------

1. The frame rate was set to "0" (w/o the quotes) in the ddraw.ini or f2_res.ini (I'll double check again) file.
- For me the file was installed in "C:\GOG Games\Fallout 2\Fallout1in2\"

2. Also needed to turn off "Max Refresh Rate" in the NVidia control panel by adding Fallout2.exe from the above folder location.
- This is the 3D settings, program tab and clicking add button and browsing location of file.

[This resolved the issue, but I decided to change the same file in "C:\GOG Games\Fallout 2\" also just to be safe.]

My system specs are in the first post. Not sure if this can be applied to Windows 10/11 systems.

I'll updated post #2 to add step by step screenshots next chance I get.

Again, this should work for those who have installed the following:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
- Fallout 1 (GOG) (might work for other versions)
- Fallout 2 (GOG) (might work for other versions)
- Fallout 2 RPU mod from (will post link next time)
- Fallout1in2 mod (will post link next time)
- FO2Tweaks mod (will post link next time)

I also installed the following from Nexusmods site:
---------------------------------------------------
- Fallout2 Explorer (will post link next time and update name if it's incorrect)

This is a great utility program that can allow for various edits and can also check what sfall mods were installed. This can also act as a savegame editor, as long as there's at least one savegame file. I believe it can also extract files in a .dat file, didn't test it out.

Feel free to DM me if there are any questions. Most should be easily answered once I upload the pics in the next day or two.
