Fallout tactics is a wonderful game, easy 5 stars from me.
Went through Fallout 1 and 2, now spending half my spare time with Tactics...
Hey! What's up with the Quartermaster's weapons?
Am I just supposed to buy all the weapons to know the details?
What on Earth!
No decent RPG has done that!
You have to guess at what the weapon is going to be like from the picture?
I checked out the manual that came with the GOG version and there was nothing.
Neither did the ref card help.
I have been using a save-game then buy all the new weapons, check 'em out, load the save
and buy the appropriate guns etc.
Oh. This is madness!
Any patch for this?

Anyhow. There's not enough games like this. After the shopping hassle,
the rest is pure gold.

Also another annoying thing is with the vehicle. At least the first one.
The bugger's engine keeps going even when there is no one behind the wheel in the bunker's garage.
Kinda like me after 10 beers...

This should have everything you need: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout_Tactics

Well everything except an ability to have this displayed in-game. Has good comparison tables on the wiki though, so you'll hopefully not have to save/reload to get the info.

It's probably littered with spoilers though, so if you want to avoid that, grab the tables and weapon details and don't read the parts about where/how to get it (which is hard since it's right in front of you if you open up a detailed description).

I don't actually have Tactics myself - yet - seems like something I'd like (getting convinced by the reviews and comments on GOG) but there's always something out that I grab instead - although there are definitely not enough turn-based strategy games in general, even less that are good, and even less that are post-apocalyptic - and this is the only one I can think of that combines all three!

Oh and the wiki has this to say about the engine running in vehicles thing (they all do it apparently):

"When taking a vehicle to a mission location, it will not appear with you during the mission. Once you leave the mission, the next time you enter a location (either it be a base or random encounter) you will appear standing next to the vehicle with the engine still running, which is the only time a vehicle's ignition will ever be on without a driver inside. "

So it's a weird feature you'll have to put up with! :)

Wow!
Thanks a lot!

That link seems very nice and detailed.
More than I could have hoped for.

I found this mod called Fallout Redux somewhere on the net.
That is said to fix some bugs and add lots of small extra things.
Lots of stuff available for Fallout Tactics on the net.
I guess that's one of the nice things about games that are about as old as FOT,
the high res patches, mods and extra info is all already available.

Also, but time will tell if it ever is completed, there is a thing called Fallout Last Vegas, supposedly a big mod that includes campaigns and new features for Fallout Tactics. The last update is from August so at least the project is still alive... http://www.moddb.com/mods/fallout-last-vegas

No probs, glad I could help.

Yeah redux looks interesting, but looks like it makes weapons really powerful - so it might have better balancing, as it apparently requires much more tactical "skill" in the first parts of the game now. I can't comment as I haven't played this or the original yet.

If you want to go nuts, there are TONS of mods available on good 'ole No Mutants Allowed, which is typically the best place to look for mods for any of the older Fallout games - plus updates to mods sometimes pop up here before anywhere else (although that depends on the modder): http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=19

There's a total conversion mod called "Enclave" I think, which should be available from NMA (or it should link to it anyway). Changes the whole campaign, and apparently REALLY difficult.
Hello :) I am here to confirm Last Vegas is still in development and isn't going to die any time at all, I am the owner of Last Vegas, Enclave and Enclave II, Enclave II is just now beginning to get worked on so that is another massive mod you all can be looking forward to seeing ;) I own the largest development team ever made for Fallout Tactics its called "Fallout Last Vegas Development Team" FLVDT for short, the development team was originally made just for Last Vegas and well then the Enclave universe moved in to the picture.

FLVDT is only just beginning as there are many more mods that are being planned!

Just some information on Fallout: Last Vegas...
Last Vegas is going to probably be the largest mod ever made by FLVDT with a 75+ mission campaign and over 50 smaller side campaigns it is going to be 5x larger than Fallout Tactics, it will have 4 ways to end the game, over 250 weapons and 45 may be more armours to find and choose from, it will also add new perks new rules and new gameplay to Tactics, the campaign will end but you can still wonder the map and find side quests wonder citys and find more weapons and armor, and as a added bonus after the game is released you can download and install it and run it without having Tactics installed on your computer! it has its own custom game engine made by me and other programmers that are in FLVDT it also allows me to make DLCs or game extensions with new world maps, new campaigns and all new items that you can bring back in to the Last Vegas universe! with this feature I mite even make it so you can jump from Last Vegas to Enclave II and play Enclave II's campaign with your character and items from Last Vegas and or the other way around, the game is one of a kind ;)

I estimate Last Vegas's arrival to be some time around the end of 2015.

All of FLVDTs mods are on Mod DB and get updates there before any other site, if you need anything to do with Fallout Tactics I'm your guy ;) I would recommend making an account on Mod DB so you can be alerted when any of FLVDTs mods are updated through the sites login and through your email.

if you do make an account on Mod DB please find me and message me for the hook ups.

I am also developing a website for FLVDT and will post links to it on Mod DB when its complete you will be able to find every thing related to Fallout Tactics on it, it will include a dictionary with every fact about Fallout Tactics from simple item stats to HeX coding it will also include facts about Last Vegas, Enclave, Enclave II and anything else that FLVDT mite cook up.

oh and if you do play Enclave the mod was not made by me so I do apologize for some rather poorly made content, I looked all over No Mutants Allowed asking everyone if they had Enclave installed and if I could get it from them just 1 person had it and was willing to post the files up again, and when I finally got it I played it and it was so bug filed it was hard to enjoy it with the constant fear of the game crashing so i converted it from Chinese to English and fixed a hell of a lot of bugs then I posted it on Mod DB the creator "GunnerOfShi" contacted me and was extremely pleased that I did this and we got together and planed Enclave II, there is now only 2 bugs in existence in Enclave and they will be fixed reel soon!

I now would recommend Enclave to any fan of Tactics tho its ability to play in turn base is broken :( it is still fun!

Fallout: Last Vegas or FLV for short and Fallout: Enclave II or FE2 for short will have the ability to play turn base, also for Fallout: Enclave its FEM for short.

I don't think I've bought any weapons from the quarter master in any of my play throughs as I was always able to scavenge what I needed during missions. The only thing I buy from the quarter master is armour. Apart from that, the only other things I would buy are either shotty shells (especially emp ones, never buy the normal ones though), rocket launcher rounds and tank rounds (If I want to mess around with random encounters)..

It's been a while since I played and I'm playing an iron man game right now. About half way through it but so far, I've never bought anything from the quarter master other than armour

Mostly, pick a gun you THINK will work. And the wiki doesn't help if you mod your game, because most mods that add new weapons or change weapons will make it so that you HAVE to just test every weapon.
