Hi,
Can anyone please let me know what are the changes GOG made to Fallout 1/2?
Do the games run using a dosbox or similar emu environment? Or do they run win native?
If they run win native... do I have to patch them to make them work? Or do I expect them to run just like the originals did?
Many thanks.
Windows native, no emulation or patching needed. :)
I don't think Fallout ever ran via DOS...

How can you tell what version you are running?

Did it? Wierd. I don't remember that it did. Then again, when I first played Fallout 1 was when I got the Fallout 2, Fallout 1 package deal. They probably formatted it to run Windows native.

Win native :-D Goood!
I bought them both, however I have been reading on the forum that still some patching is advisable, so... what version of Fallout is this? the USA or the European one?

I'm playing on an XP machine with a 19" CRT and i haven't bothered with any of the recommended user created MOD's.
I think the resolution MOD is primarily for folks using large flat-screens, especially wide-screens.
I think the only thing that's really missing is the Children. I'm a bit confused about what versions had children and what versions removed them. I suppose the presence of kids would add to the realism. But I don't miss them, becasue if I can't actually tell my companions not to target them, it seems unfair to get penalized for it.

I am running Vista and installed the games via GOG's installer and they run perfectly fine. With any of their games, they install what ever emulators are necessary and reconfigured to work in an XP or Vista environment with no other work needed.
