So the game is crashing on a frequent basis when I'm using a door to change area. Thing is I've tried everything I can think of to fix this without success. I've tried FOSE v1.2 and v1.3beta. I have the game set to Admin and Compatibility Mode Service Pack 3. I've got the FO3 stutter remover and NVAC installed. The only 2 mods I have installed are the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch and Clarity (which changes the game's RGB values to remove the green filter the game has). I've even tried turning off the autosaves but none of this has worked. What else can I do?

Edit: Just got a new error.
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program: A\GOG Games\Fallout 3\Fallout3.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support
team for more information."

The game also randomly locks up for no reason and I have to sign out of my PC.

The new error is related to a file called "Galaxy.dll".

In short, the game is looking for GOG Galaxy in the background.

Either install GOG Galaxy or delete / remove / rename "Galaxy.dll" in the game's installation directory.
Sample Path ... C:\GOG Games\Fallout 3\Galaxy.dll

The background searching for GOG Galaxy can cause lots of other strange errors.

Hope this helps.

The unofficial patch will cause random crashes. You can try this, adjust it for your game location when you install the files.
www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/21888/?
Place the main files in the game folder and the fallout.ini goes in the same location for both steam and gog, in documents\mygames
Step 1 will fix the game, step 2 (optional) adds fose.
If you rename the fose to run as the launcher, turn off the gog overlay in the fallout3 settings, under more, settings in the gog launcher.

Thanks for the response, what's the name of the mod you tried to link? when I follow that link it just takes me to the nexus rather than a specific file.

Thank you but would that mod help? Didn't GoG already enable LAA?

Not in fallout3 goty, in the New vegas ultimate edition they did. The mod also replaces the default ini files and allows for fose setup with added laa if you need it.

No ultimate edition yet for fo3, hoping they'll make one but it's pretty easy to patch as it is.
