So I went to sell some items in the outskirts of Vault City, but after I sold the guy some stuff, I still had the same amount of money in my inventory. This has happened with multiple loaded games. Are there multiple currencies that I can't see, or is the game glitching and not giving me my money. I didn't get the money after completing the quest to escort the caravan from Reno to Redding, not sure if I had to talk to someone to get it.
I think you have to talk to the caravan leader (assuming he's alive) when you reach the destination in order to get paid.

Just to get the obvious out of the way, did you transfer money from the person you were bartering with to the "items to be traded" tab? Since you're in Vault City already, I would imagine you have bartered several times, but maybe you forgot. Happened to me a few times :)
Nah, what happened was I am used to the system where I just click offer and the value it shows for the it is what the game will pay me. I wasn't aware I had to drag money (usually items, since most merchants are broke) into the barter table to get it from them.
im maybe silly but still dont understand how to get money from barter for my stuff. when i pick items i want to sell, it appear on my side of tab (left) and under it amount of money (not clickable or dragable). i can do nothing just to click "offer" and my stuff moves to the barter inventory but my account is still $0.

is even possible to sell for money, or just to exchange goods for barters goods? on all videos on youtube with bartering i saw it is not apparent and all wit exchanging goods..

please help! :-)

Your problem is that you don't understand 'barter'. Barter is a straight trade of goods, not purchase for coin -- look it up. If you want coin, offer something above value, and (if they have the coin), choose to barter (swap) that too.

And please do NOT necro 4 year old threads. You should have made your own thread and made it a question.

There is never an option to Sell. There is only Trade/Barter.

But you may Trade/Barter for Money if the merchant/person has money, and you can trade with almost anyone, not just merchants.

When you are in the Barter screen, you get to see what they have on offer. They may have some money. Grab that and add it to their side of the screen.

Then you add something equal value to your side and hit the OFFER button.

Notice Money has been added to merchants stack and they are balanced. Mostly I started their stack buy including all their money first, so I cleaned everyone of all their money everywhere I went. I had ~100000 by the end of the game.

Money is nice because it has no weight, but neither do Stimpacks/meds, so you can think of them as money as well, and clean everyone out of those as well, and as much ammo as you want.

thank you for your thorough answer. i got it and play as you advised. so i suppose if i clean somebody of all money (or items in general) he/she will never get some new. (unlike as in morrowind in case of money)

Individuals may not regenerate money and items, but merchants do usually in a couple of days, or even less.

It depends on whom you talk about, it varies per character. But at least the dedicated shopkeepers do replenish, on fixed cycles that can be from days to weeks.
