I'm currently level 8 and I am at the Brotherhood. I have done every quest in Shady Sands, Junktown, The Hub (except for killing Decker and helping the guy with his farm), Vault 13 and the first quest to get into The Brotherhood. My best weapon is a hunting rifle, Tyrus is using a shotgun, and Ian uses a pistol.

I'm at the point now where I can't really do anything without dying. Super Mutants destroy me. Deathclaws destroy me. Large groups of Raiders destroy me. It seems like everything kills me before I do any significant damage. Either I'm underleveled, or I should have found better guns by now. It seems odd that I'm still using a hunting rifle this late in the game since it's the best thing I've picked up.

I'm a lower level than you but how many caps do you got?

There's an arms dealer in the upper-right corner of The Hub, he sells rocket launcher, sniper rifle, assault rifle, combat shotgun and some other stuff. For me he had a dialogue option where I asked for even better stuff than he had and he pointed me to two directions I don't recall as I can't afford his stuff anyway.

I had about 13k caps before I found that guy and bought an Assault Rifle. I'm doing more damage now with the burst option. I'm not sure if I can actually kill super mutants or not, though.

If you get your gambling skills to over 75%, you can generate an infinite amount of bottle caps by gaming the casino. You just talk to the guy in the northern part that lets you gamble, and leave some weights to keep the 1 and 4 number keys pressed down at the same time, then leave the computer and come back after a while (the higher your gambling skills, the faster you earn more money).

How much did the AR cost you and how much damage does it deal? Thanks but I'll resort to such solutions when I'm cornered and can't find myself out. I suppose it's more fan and better than taking advantage of barter between two or one merchants where you can sell the same stuff for more money than you buy them. :P

You should definitely help the guy in the Hub protect his farm. That will help you out immensely, even though it's a tough fight.

Beyond that, I wouldn't worry too much about levels. Follow the story instead. It will lead you to better equipment.

I'm on another part right now. My left leg is crippled and my last save before this happened is about an hour back. I've tried going to doctors but they say I look fine and won't heal my leg. I tried getting a med kit and doing it myself, but all it did was heal me 4 points and give me 25xp. How do I heal my leg without having to redo everything??

Use the doctor skill but I'm not sure how reliable it is in case you haven't spent any points in it.

My doctor skill is at 13%. I really doubt I'm going to get it to work this way. Why can't a doctor in game heal me?

The only way to heal that wound is to use a doctor bag. Same with an eye wound. You just have to do it until it works.

Doctors can heal you, but you'll have to find one and it'll cost. The Doctor skill can also heal crippled limbs, but at 13% you're going to need a doctor bag and a few rounds of save and reload.
