Hi all,

I have just reached the point in the game whereby I must infiltrate the Navarro Enclave base and retrieve vertibird blueprints. I managed to get the password from Chris and then speak to the Enclave guard at the post. I'm told go to a specific area. However every time I pass the barrier a turret or other guard instantly turns hostile attacks me. I've some combat specialize but not nearly enough to kill them.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm making a mistake. I'm unarmed and have given the password. I have no party members except for the dog who I can't seem to remove.

I've quick saved after providing the password so I can't go back to give the password again. Whenever I click on the guard he says to 'Move along soldier' which would imply I'm being recognized as friendly.

If anyone has any idea then some feedback would be greatly appreciated. My only other saves are hours prior and it's heartbreaking to think to have to go back. Screenshot attached below

Thanks!

I'm going from memory here, but I believe you cannot get through unmolested unless you are completely alone. You have the dog, so you are counted as accompanied, and the same goes for Miria, another one who won't leave. Your only option in this case is to go back to Chris, kill him and sneak in through his shack -- you will be able to grab some power armour this way.

You hit the nail on the head there. It was the dog. I assumed that it wouldn't count as a companion as there wasn't any way to get rid of it.

I went back and killed Chris to see if I could use his entrance to sneak in, but the same thing happened, was instantly attacked by guards.

So I got rid of the dog. Trapped him and myself in the shack so he couldn't run away and put round after round of .223 pistol bullets into him. It wasn't uncomfortable enough putting a dog down in a shed but the fact that he had a massive health pool just extended the process so much that it became horrifying. It was either that or lose the last 5 hours of play.

Turns out this dog was giving me the jinxed perk as well so Ill be glad that my weapons won't randomly be destroyed any more.

Any, that sorted it out. Thanks for getting back so fast too :)
That was the "Pariah Dog".

Yeah, I ran across the thing again after I killed it when revisiting the point in the map that I found it. Reloaded the game and avoided the thing. The Jinxed perk was far more hassle than it was worth, especially as I wan't too specialized for combat.
Are you sure it was pariah dog again? If you killed and continued to play (without reloading a save from before the first encounter with pariah dog), it should not appear again. There are other dogs in Fallout 2, besides pariah dog.

I'm not sure now to be honest. As soon as I saw the dog in the same encounter place on the map I just assumed it was the same one and just legged it.

I never went back to check and I've finished the game since last night.

What I found interesting (learning now) is that Pariah is 'obtained' by failing a luck check. When creating the character originally I figured dropping my luck down to 1 wouldn't be too problematic - that I would probably just get less critical hits or something. Nope, the game went out of it's way to punish me for being careless in that stat.

Anyway all ended well otherwise. Onto Fallout Tactics now :)
